You pride yourself on the effort put into certain games, and I agree effort and skill was put into them, but you completely ignore our games that have exceeded most of your games in terms of complexity, visuals, story, depth...

Seen 'em and don't agree. "Exceeded" most of our games proves you haven't read most of our games. Don't get me wrong, Iron and Blood is a wonderful IOT and is miles above all the others, but to say there is a group of IOTs that exceed in those fields NESes is a joke. Forgetting all the others, you can definitely not say any IOT exceeds NESes in visuals. Iron and Blood is a mock map of the world. We use actual maps of the world.

You should learn to spice up your maps sometimes, they are seriously getting old and boring...The Valk map is superior.

At first I thought you and Luckymoose were simply abrasive, but upon further inspection, I have come to the conclusion that you both are the saddest creations I have seen on this board.<...>

This, more than anything else, has convinced me that perhaps Luckymoose has a point.

Did you even read my posts, little dog? Nevermind, I don't want you in my forum. Have fun.

Textures do not make a map good, particularly ones which serve mostly to increase filesize with no corresponding increase in usefulness -- or, arguably, aesthetics.

An increase to 5 mb is not a large increase. I put them in to spice stuff up, ofc that subjective. But the point being we do use maps that are equal if not greater than the standard Symphony D map you guys use. Dont take this as an insult, I just find it annoying to see a Symphony D map in every "world" NES I join. Flyingchickens map is superb I must say. Also one can put so much interms of usefullness and not in aesthetics.

He's not normally like this, unless he's talking to Civ 5 S&Ters.

Reinventing the wheel with poor projections and wasteful resource management is worth striving for? Pfft. We use it because the projection isn't backwards or Paradoxian (I know most of you steal from their games). The map is easy to work with and small in file size. Uploading in the highest quality at the smallest footprint is ideal. Anyone who uses avatars on CFC should understand that.

Resource management? Dude its an image file...there isn't much to manage. Your projection may be more accurate but it isn't aesthetically pleasing. Seriously the black gaps, that straight line Antarctica. Of course we steal from their games, I mean I ported EUII onto the forum once, it worked like a charm. I use the typical Paradox projection because its much more pleasing to the eye. Your maps would be more easy to work with if you had provinces for example...I've seen in several NESes ugly and hideous straight line provinces which make Chad look like a nice place. Its 2013, I assume almost everyone on this forum or at least in NES/IOT has an internet connection that can easily withstand downloading and uploading 4 MBs. Dont know what the fuss about size is. Its not like CFC avatars since we aren't limited...I could technically make a 100MB map and upload it.

Lies!
Where I live the internet connection sucks, and it took me over two minutes to load one of your maps, let alone the second one.

Feel sorry for you bro...

EDIT: I assumed so since I live in a third world hellhole and have a mid tier internet but I am still able to easily process the images.

My download speed caps at 200kb/s, is normally at 100/50 per second.

We don't use provinces because in non-OTL scenarios the provinces make absolutely no sense for the world. Hell, a lot of Paradoxian provinces aren't even accurate. We prefer to hand-draw our borders based on REAL world usage. You can't give someone half a province, that defeats the purpose of province based maps. Silly.

I vote we delete both forums and have a long hard think about how we behave.

I vote that hoplitejoe think about what he types before he posts, and the people he's actually talking to and about.

Okay, it's very obvious that some people have gone too far in this discussion. I think that everyone should be very careful about what they post in the next day or so, emotions run high and then people say something stupider and then the thread gets closed and then we start making angry eyes at each other.

I, for what it's worth, apologise for any misbehaviour that I have conducted and any misbehaviour that my colleagues may have done as well. Perhaps opening this thread was not the best way to gage community opinions for the idea and if that was the case then I do sincerely apologise.

Don't worry about it; one should always raise issues that one thinks are important. I for one think it's probably a good thing that we've had this discussion, because this, although a bit acrimonious, has involved the sharing of ideas, and we each have a much better notion than we probably did before of what the other forum thinks about itself and the other. You IOTers - undoubtedly with the odd exception - probably now understand, even if you do not sympathise with them, our perspectives on what we are trying to do when we NES and why we feel we are different from IOTs and should stay separate; and we NESers probably have a better idea of what you IOTers are thinking and doing as well. In my opinion, it hasn't been too bad, by and large, in terms of civility, as discussions on CFC go (pace hoplitejoe).
