A reminder to go and vote

Youre not supposed to be able to take it out of the precinct, thats why. people were worried about people paying for votes and using the receipts as proof

You should still be able to see it, to prove that is was recorded as you voted. Behind glass , ok, but you should still be able to look and verify.

Has anyone else been called by people of either party urging them or their living or dead relatives to vote?

Way too often. It gets to the point that when the phone rings we just assume its a political call. We answer it and as soon as we know its politically motivated we just hang up. We don't even let them finish.

Even had a few come to our door, but when you have a dog who looks vicious (and is a pit bull) they tend to leave quickly. We don't bother to tell them that if they came in the house she'd run to the back and hide in fear.

If I could vote, it'd be for James Webb, Jim Moran, and No on the marriage definition.

Voted Kennedy/Grams/Eastlund/Nienow/Pawlenty (all Republicans) and ABSOLUTELY FREAKING NO WAY on that awful, awful transportation amendment.

:)

How do they record emphasis when you're voting? If people didn't abuse it, they could give you an extra-big felt market to X out the vote that really mattered - pencil for the rest.

I already voted during lunch time.
Basicly I voted for Liebarman as well as candidates whom are Against same-gender marriages, ESCR, and human cloning ;).

you should have gotten a review screen before you hit the accept your votes

I didnt vote... I didnt have time.. I had no ride to get their anyway.

I finally voted and they replaced the switch booth with an electronic one from Ivotronic.
I have never heard of them so I did a search and found out my vote is up in the air.
Guess who owns them?

I've got a question for Americans. If Lieberman wins, and the rest of the house ends up 49-49-1, are we going to count Lieberman as a Democrat or is the Senate split?

Lieberman said that he is going to be in the Democrat caucus so relay it would be 50 Democrat and 49 Republicans.

Sorry, but Lieberman is a devout Jew. Bush can still slash the stem cell bills, So your dreams of an evil stem cell empire wont happen ;).

Good, very good. Although, I must say, I am a Ned Lamont fan.

Personally, I was turned off by Lamont's negative attack ads and was only a one issue senator. My main consern is "What would Lamont do if the Groton Sub base is under a threat of closure again?"

The review screen means nothing. I want to see a piece of paper with my votes (verified by me) go into a box. If there is some systematic error either deliberate or accidental in the computer count I want to know there is a hard copy of what I voted for.

Seconded heartily. I'm too familiar with computers' ability to screw things up to trust them completely.

Theres always a chance of error in data in computers.

I heard before data error prevention techniques like parity were invented. Computers had huge data error rates!

(And parity isnt as effective nowadays with the huge size of data in computers)
