Age of Colonisation

Snoopies is good terrain because it goes well with Vwarnos's cities and he has some era cities for this now.

Indeed, cubsfan6506 I asked to Varwnos some cities to match the civilisations in my mod so I will change the cities graphics I have now with Varwnos' cities graphics.

It's a matter of taste, really. I think Varwnos' cities with ARES' terrain look fantastic. embryodead will include them in the next MEM update. Here's a screenshot of that:

Still, T.A. Jones is right, I can change the terrain to whatever I want. As long as you don't include any MOD-specific terrain. ;)

Anyhoo, whatever you do, I'm definitely looking forward to this. Do you think my poor little 1,6 GHz Pentium 4 PC can handle it?

As they say: "Forza, imperator1961!" :D

Thanks Golden Fleece. I dont' have a high end computer, and the mod work well. Only few minutes to start.

I think that you should make the Hapsburgs a Civ, they could replace Hungary most of which was conquered by the Ottomans soon after the start of the Scenario.

I think that you should make the Hapsburgs a Civ, they could replace Hungary most of which was conquered by the Ottomans soon after the start of the Scenario.

And the Hapsburgs have the same territory of Hungary?

As you probably know the Holy Roman Empire has been a rather loose union of nearly souvereign rulers. The House of Habsburg was one of the mightiest families and in 1496, when the scenario starts, the leader of the Habsburgs is the holy roman emperor himself..., so you would have to think about what to do with the rest of germany.
The territory at that time would mainly be Austria; Bohemia and Hungary followed in 1526, Croatia in 1527. Until then, Hungary was independent, though losing vast territories to the ottomans.
In 1504 the house of Habsburg ascended the spanish throne and until 1556 with the resignment of Charles, his realm divided in a spanish and an austrian line which although were alligned until the spanish line ended 1700.

So what to do with this? If you strictly want to be correct with the starting date, leave Hungary in. What you could do, is splitting the HRE, so you have Austria (representing first the house of Habsburg, later just the austrian line), in locked Alliance with Spain (they were probably just waiting for someone to die at those days), and a faction of "minor" german states.

As there probably is no free slot left, i'd say: leave it as it is, for the focus of the scenario is Colonisation and not european family politics (that would be the job for another scenario with a bit less new world in it ;-).

I absolutely agree with you. Although a maximum possible of historical accuracy is important, the focus is on colonization, so my effort go to playability on the whole world. A future expansion to this mod covering the same period of time but focusing to european history is an intriguing possibility. ;)

The problem is that you gave Hungary a unrealistic amount of territory, much of which was already under Ottoman control by 1492.
The Ottomans had conquered Serbia in 1389, Wallachia in 1396, Moldavia in 1455, Bosnia in 1468, and turned
the Khanate of Crimea into their Vassal by 1475.
Most Hungary itself was subdued after the battle of Mohacs in 1526, of you can see why I suggest replacing it with the Hapsburgs.

What do you say is interesting. I would change Hungary with Haupsbourg, along with few territory but in locked alliance with Spain. I made some esperiments on this and I will tell you the results.

To cubsfan6506: I try to modify the Mod by utilise the Ideal city location. But I dont' want utilize the marsh graphic, so I want change it with plains graphic. But I dont'find the Marsh.pcx in Conquest folder nor in CIV III folder. Where is?

In the terrain foler.

If you'd like I could try to come up w/ one. All in the interest of the mod you know. :)

In the terrain foler.

In the terrain folder (conquest) there isnt', and the same in the terrain folder CIV III. But the standard marsh tile is present in game. In I put a new Marsh.pcx like the work of pounder and then I modify it with plain terrain it work? :)

I can't seem to find the plain pcx either. Try posting a thread in the main forumn.

All the files are right where they should be. The plains are in the Civ III\Art\terrain folder iirc and the march.pcx is in Civ III\Conquests\Art\terrain. Your problem is going to be choosing which plains tile to use to use for the marsh ones as there many more (perhaps 3 times as many).

Ok Ok my error. I finded the marsh.pcx in the Mod folder instead the Conquest folder.:D

Some questions:
1) Hare you sure the AI recognize the presence of Ideal city location and automatically send there the settlers?

2) In the marsh.pcx I want substitute the marsh tiles with plains tiles. It is necessary substitute ALL the tiles? Or I substitute the first and make all magenta the others? Thanks

1) Yeah, the AI know which terrain they can settle, and which they can't.

2) I don't get what you are describing. I'd just make the marsh graphics magenta, and place marshes under each existing city (obviously after allowing cities on Marshes) and everywhere where you want a city to be located. Plains tiles do not come into this whatsoever, as the Marsh graphics go over Grassland graphics, so the tiles will look just like grasslands.

2) I suggest you do what VC is saying they'll look like grasslands instead of the plains you wanted but they'll look a lot better.
