AI+ v13.1

other observation : ai looks don't use the great people

Thanks so much for the update, Siesta. Halfway through my first game with V3 and all looking good so far. Sumeria managed to wipe America off the map so what little I've seen of the combat seems good. I say 'what little' because I'm trying to play the diplomatic game and, apart from a very short war with Sumeria early on that I was able to hold back, I haven't really been at war with anyone this game.

As for the settler issue, here are some screenshots from my current game:

India seems to be settling mostly on freshwater or coastal water. The only exception seems to be Kolar. Sumeria's also on freshwater.

In the second image, Kongo seems to be hitting rivers and mountains with the exception of Mbanza Nsundi. Though, I do note Tula in the bottom right-hand corner which is a tile away from both a river and a lake.

So, looks mostly good!

@rico12 - I suspect that, in the screenshot you posted, Russia doesn't have the appropriate great work slots in order to use those great people. I can confirm in my game that the AI is using great people. Here's Peter hording his great works:

@Siesta Guru - Again, thanks so much for your hard work on this! I'm loving the mod so far!

Combat is so much better now with this. I played with Delnars, both combined, and finally v3 here, and v3 is awesome. AI makes good decisions while fighting and prepares for surprise wars before announcing them. Thanks man.

Testing this mod out on emperor with a few other but none that actually change AI. Cleopatra denounced me for having a weak army and being a warmonger, while she is about half the map of a standard game away with my only neighbour, China, between as I was on whole east coast and she was middle top. She wages a formal war with a quite sparse army that was funnelling through a choke between the coast and China whilst I am warring with China. About 30 turns later I have already peaced with China ages ago and Cleopatra refuses to make any sort of peace deal with me even though I slaughtered her at the choke and pushed her back. Without the AI+ mod I am pretty convinced she would have already have begged for peace with a deal heavily in my favour. She is way too far away from me and would make me irrelevant if If i tried wiping her out to escape perpetual war. I checked her domination score and she is well below everyone else since she waged simultaneous wars with other civs as well although those were shortly resolved in peace.

Aside from the perpetual war glitch from Cleopatra the AI plays really well now in skirmishes and had a lot more fun trying to war against AI+ China rather than vanilla AI. Thanks for the mod :D

Played king marathon game and 2-300 turns in whit v3, the ai settels cities but I found that pretty much all of their cities was about size 1-3 whit their capitals at around 6-7ish. This is on a giant earth map whit abundant resources. Other mods I allso use is strategic resources, faster build and slower reseach, improved water tiles, modern buildings (never made it to those) and mads tech tree. From what I can see from the screenshots other people posted it seems to be an isolated incident.

Edit: I was worng about the districts, it was only in their lower pop cities they only built holy sites, the few other cities they had whit 6-7 pop they allso built other districts

I thought this mod was using Delnars in it now so no need for it. Isnt that why "combined ai" was stopped.

It is. The only significant addition Delnars adds from what I can see via the code atm, is better/Extra Pillaging(That may change in the future). I decided that was not enough to continue Combined AI and discontinued it. The rest of the meaningfull changes I do believe Siesta has included in AI+ making it the AI mod of choice atm.

Ok thanks Horem, so the policy card changes in Delnars are included in Ai+? I am just wanting to start a new game.

Hmm.. there may be some confusion, I dont remember reading anything about policy card tweak in Delnar's mod.

Some great feedback here, thanks folks!

@Jmaculas

The perpetual war thing is interesting, I'll have to try looking into that. Not entirely sure if anything in this mod could've caused it, as I haven't touched peace-making at all (mostly because there's almost nothing I can change there). Maybe it's worth changing some agendas up a little, that could've been contributing. Were the armies you saw from cleo more like regular sized armies, or more like little packs?

@Animist7
Thanks for some visual aids! Looking at them they actually look a ltitle better than most of the test games I've done. Tula looks odd on first sight, but I think it was probably formed after sanga and solikamsk, which actually block out all the fresh water tiles nearby. That, Nsundi, Mbata and Kolar appear to just be fill-up cities in areas without any good fresh water. Mbumbi is the most iffy one I think, as it could've been placed on water. But the yields and resources do seem better here than they woulve been a few tiles north.

@Larsenex

There's no policy card changes in here but I don't think Delnars had any either. You may be thinking of the Civ 6 Improvements patch by Xaviarlol

Thanks to both of you (Siesta Guru, Horem). That is exactly what I am thinking. I have not tried the Civ 6 improvements yet and wondered if your mod will play nice with it. I kinda liked the policy card changes that mod did.

Just wanted to say that the latest v3 version works great, and it makes the game so much more exciting. Yes anyone can still beat the AI with just enough thinking and preparation and exploiting things, but for casual games like me, it is just perfectly right. Playing and having fun, without this becoming a chess game. THANK YOU!

really loving v3 I got to say definitely challenging on deity :) playing on same seed as I was on v2 and now the map is well filled with decent cities ( except for Norway idiot went from great coast spot with river to a spot with 2 marble luxuries and no water atleast 2-3 tiles away)

I'm seeing none of the AIs in my game building walls. Is this just a fluke?

Hmm, it probably is, but I'm not not entirely sure. I haven't touched anything regarding walls directly, and see them being build in both of my test games and in some feedback screenshots. There might be some indirect effects that reduce their desire though. What are your game settings?
