AK5, Rule of the idiots

1.740. We need the FP badly. Switch to FP in Cologne. Shuffle some troops so they can be upgraded in barrack towns. Kill 2 spears in Tzintzuntzen.

2.750. Kill spear, arch, arch in Tzintzuntzen and raze it so I never have to type this name again.

3.760. Inca are building the Sistine Chapel. Kill a spear, arch, arch stack in the open.

4.770. Medinf kills spear, promotes. Kill spear, arch, arch (promote), arch, another arch and Barbarossa appears! Going to send him to Saltzburg to build our FP. We need an FP much more than we need an army. Cologne switches to market.

Notice WW is kicking in, so I have to raze lux to 20% just to keep our previously pitiful hapiness levels from getting worse.

Japan has Gunpowder. Establish embassy so we can steal it. They are buildig samurai like mad and killing Americans all over the East. Resources: 2 iron, 1 salt, 1 horse. Luxuries: 2 furs, 1 incense.

5.780. Rush FP in Saltzburg. This is going to be a kick-ass city one day, it's all floodplains, hills, and rivers. Kill spear, spear, arch, and raze Ixtapaluca.

6.790. Finally enough money for steal, but I remember we have the GL, so why waste the cash. Wait a few turns, we don't need muskets. Aztecs are attacking with archers and spears, and Inca are building tons of their funky slave-trader scouts which have 1 attack.

7.800. Inca boat dropped off a settler and they built a fishing village on the North coast. Have to remember to settle that spot once we mop them up. Japan completes Leonardo's Workshop, Maya switch to Sistine Chapel.

Siege of Calixtahuaca: damage 3 spears, kill 1 with elite medinf, wait for reinforcements. No use wasting troops if the odds are anything less than great.

IT. Shucks, first loss of the turn set. Aztec archer runs out of town and kills our elite archer that was coming through the mountains to join the siege.

8.810. Learn Theology and Gunpowder. Build New Hannover and New Bremen. Elite medinf kills spear and Richstofen appears! Raze Calixtauaca and promote another medinf. Kill spear, arch, settler in the open.

9.820. Richstofen builds an army. Advance on last Aztec towns.

10.830. Kill spear, spear, and decide to keep Tlacopan, since the Aztecs are almost dead, anyway. Kill spear, arch, promoting 1 medinf and losing 1 medinf. Keep Xochicalco.

Summary: The aztecs have one town left. Our whole army is one or two turns away, so they are dead. Might as well keep the town because all Aztec citizens become loyal Germans once all their cities are gone. Richstofen's army is one tile away from a couple of medinf, once they join the army it can travel much more quickly to our next battleground in the South. There are several settlers on the way to the cleared territories. Try to settle so that our territory is maximized. We have some unusable gaps between existing towns that we'll never, ever get to use becuse of the 0 culture rule. Think dense, we are idiots after all!

Got it, but I am also up in my other SG, so I won't get the chance to play this one until tomorrow night.

I never thought about the no culture issue, so I'll place cities cxxc from now on.

After the war, I'll keep 2-3 MIs up by that northern Incan town with a settler standing by to replace it.

If we capture a wonder, can we keep it? Captured wonders don't count toward culture, right?

Turn 1
-- New Stuttgart created

Turn 2
-- Inca wants to give us incense for wines and 14 GPT. I tell him to stuff it.
-- We must have settled in a good spot, because Inca settler/spear pair return home.
-- We take Cempoala. Aztecs are gone.
-- New Bonn created
-- Army is moving south for the next player to attack the Incans.
-- With WW gone, I reduce lux tax to 0, and put everyone back to work.

Turn 3
-- Konigsberg Marketplace -> Aqueduct in 15
-- Cologne Marketplace -> MI in 5
-- Castle gets 2nd floor
-- Saltpeter hooked up

Turn 4
-- Inca wants ROP. I tell him to stuff it.
-- New Salzburg created

Turn 5
-- Berlin Aqueduct -> Musket in 5
-- People on the 2nd floor were complaining that when it rained, they got wet. Palace gets roof.

Turn 6
-- We have New Leipzig that will revolt next turn, and 5 yellows, so I will increase lux to 10%.

Turn 7
-- New Berlin Courthouse -> Barracks in 5
-- People complaining that the jump to the enterance of our palace is too high. A governor broke his toe as he stubbed it when he tried to make the jump. So, palace gets stairs.
-- 2nd saltpeter hooked up

Turn 8
-- Cologne MI -> MI in 5
-- New Leipzig Settler -> Settler in 15
-- Since our army is heading toward Stuttgart, I figured it would come in handy to be able to upgrade units there. So, switch from courthouse in 69 to barracks in 9. Next player should be able to pop rush if they desire.

Turn 9
-- Japanese want an alliance with the Americans. I politely decline for now.
-- Heidelburg Pikeman -> Court in 40
-- Salzburg Market -> Barracks in 2

Turn 10
-- Berlin Musket -> MI in 3
-- Tlacopan Worker -> Harbor in 30

You have a settler 1 NW of New Bonn. I figure there are 2 spots left for cities. One 3 squares NE of New Bonn on Tundra forest, and 1 square SE of the cow.

There are units on goto orders. Most troops required a good 10-12 turns to make it from the northern front down to Stuttgart, so that is where most are going. A couple are heading toward Chuquiapo to take that down right away when we start our Incan war.

Techs are moving VERY slowly. With the Japanese and American at war, no one is researching anything I guess.

I am building some harbors on our northern coast, hoping it opens up trade lanes to the other continent. Japan has no extra horses, but if they clobber the Americans, they should. I'm hoping to get horses long enough for us to build some cav before we need to worry about Japan. Those Samurai will eat our MI/Muskets for breakfast.

Preflight: Change Teo to settler. Hee, hee, ho, ho, ha, ha, Pachachuti has no iron!

960:

IT: Maya finish Sistine

980: Switch Munich and Stutgart to settlers.

990: Found New Brandenburg. Take Chuguiapo

1000: Trebs pound Ica.

1030: Victory screen says this is turn 218. I'll go two more.

IT: Learn Education from Maya and Japanese. Somehow learn Chem. :confused:

1050: found Berlinberg.

Up in 3 other SG's + NYE. No map. Danz up, joe or viper on deck (viper returns on 1/2/05), so if joe can get it before then....

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads8/idiots_1050_AD.SAV

I'm here. Danz is up, I'll see if I can find a roster somewhere.
Edit: Is this it?

viper- On deck
allin1joe
F51-MIA
AK
danz- Up

updated roster:
danz - skip
viper - up
joe - waiting patiently
AK - waving saber, screaming "Ich bien panzer" (hopefully I've just said I am a tank and not something nasty) :)

Got it.

I don't really know German, but Ich bin panzer sounds right (I am tank, IIRC), although would Ich bin ein panzer be better (I am a tank.)

Hi guys, sorry to disappear on you. I was out of keyboard range for the holidays. I'll wait for my regular spot in the roster, right after the saber-waving Admiral. He's most likely to start a war and make my set of turns are as interesting as possible :)

Preturn- Well, the world changed a bit since I last played :lol: See no changes, though, so I hit enter. But I want horses for Cavalry later. We can trade for it when we get Magnetism (on another continent, need to pass ocean.)
1
IBT- A volcano erupts and a worker is killed (I'm not kidding!)
2
Atico captured.
5
Magdeburg founded. Arequipa captured.
IBT- Bremen riots.
6
IBT- Inca capture trebs.
7
Take a bit of a risk and will probably lose Arequipa, but I can definitely get it back and I'll get the trebs too.
IBT- Arequipa captured by Inca as I said, Heroic Epic complete. Cities riots because of the war.
8
Arequipa captured.
IBT- Arequipa captured by the Inca again.
9
Kiel founded.
10
Vilcas captured, we have our trebs back.

I have 3 MDIs and a musket heading to Arequipa, should be enough as it's only defended by longbows. There's a similar group also coming. Accidentally hit enter so it's 1160 AD, but I think I'm safe in an idiot SG.

Turn 1
-- With all the gold we have, I increased the lux slider to 30% to stave off some WW. We're still making 121GPT

Turn 2
-- Inca attacks my stack heading toward Arequipa. Lost the Musket and a MI
-- Increase to 30% was not enough. Increasing to 60%. Still at +40GPT
-- Trebs take a longbow down to 1HP, and the army finishes it off.
-- MI takes out longbow and promotes
-- MI takes out longbow

Turn 3
-- Both MIs taken out by longbows
-- Ok, this is nuts. 60% not enough to stave off WW. Going to sue for peace and see what I can get. We need to regroup before finishing off the Incans anyway. First I takes out a Crusader and a longbow next to Vilcas
-- I get Arequipa, Machu Picchu and 19 gold for peace.
-- Everyone that can get back to work, does. Lux down to 30%

Turn 4
-- Vilcas flipped to the Incans. We lost all our Trebs, but luckily our army was outside the city after killing off that Crusader and Longbowman.
-- The cities we took from Inca are HUGE flip risks. I am going to assemble our army in Madeburg and will work up a pile of settlers to raze and replace with. We shouldn't be taking cities with our crappy culture.

Turn 5
-- Just a bunch of moving around. I decide to move the army to Machu Pichu and disconnect the saltpeter, just in case it flips back to Inca

Turn 6
-- Maya building Copernicus
-- I dial up Maya. He wants 2,320 gold for Astronomy. I decide to take it, but talk him down to 2,150. We still have over 3,000 in the bank.

Turn 7
-- Just a bunch of moving around. Saltpeter by Machu has been disconnected.

Turn 8
-- I see a Mayan caravel heading south, and spot a section of coast that is unclaimed and is cxxc spacing from everyone else. Moving a settler there now.

Turn 9
-- Whoops. Looks like the Mayans want to play. They drop off 3 longbows by New Hannover. I dont have anything close enough to stop them from taking the city, but I can put together a small force to take it back. He only has 102 gold left so he must have done a lot of upgrades.
-- There is an elite MI in New Hannover. So, I decide to make the Mayans declare now so I can kill one off. I ordered him out and he declared. Dang, no leader. Took out 1 longbow and lost 2 HP.
-- I am assembling a counter attack force in Salzburg
-- Berlin2 founded.

Turn 10
-- New Hannover taken. Lost 36 gold.
-- I start moving some of our inner muskets out to our coastal cities. Just in case Maya decides to send more our way.

That's about it. We have a stack of about 18 troops in Magdeburg with more on the way. We have a small stack of 2 on the mountain by New Hannover, with a longbow and MI (in Salzburg) and Musket ready to join them next turn before moving on to re-take it. After that, we might want to build a boat or two to defend our coast. I have muskets moving to our undefended coastal cities in case Maya wants to keep playing.

We have 12 turns of peace left with the Inca before we can polish them off. We can probably assemble a stack of 30 units by then. I tried to mix it up between MI, Longbow and Trebs.

lurker's comment:

He's back!!! :satan:

Nicely done after that rocky start.

Keep cramming in those towns in old Azteca.

Don't forget the power of MP's to counter War Weariness in Feudalism. AIJ's post above is a good example of just how bad it can get in this government. You've got about ten turns before it starts to become a problem again. Another thing that helps is keeping towns under pop6.

Spend your cash!! Upgrades, tech, lux buys, embassies, whatever.

Thanks for the comments Bede. I wasn't sure about the cash buy of Navigation, but it looks like that was a good move. Of course, he used it to upgrade and attack us, but ah well. There really isn't anything else for us to spend our money on right now. The only one we have trade access too is the one we plan on wiping out in 13 turns. Too bad we can't hurry builds with cash.

I switched some builds during my turns to barracks on our front lines with the Inca. I figured this way, we could upgrade some pikes that were there without having to move them out of their defensive positions. Plus, they really had nothing else to build :) When we turn to communism, they will be productive, so they won't be wasted there long.

Need a team decision. Maya incursion is more persistent than first appeared. Bring in Japan and America to keep them off our back or fight solo?
