I'm surprised nobody here has mentioned this. I take it I'm the only Jeopardy! fan here? :(

He died of pancreatic cancer, at the age of 80. Rest in peace.

Canada has lost a national treasure. Yes, he became an American citizen ages ago, but we still claim him as one of ours.

Rest in peace, Alex.

No, I saw it this morning and because of my psychiatrist appointment didn’t have time to give him a proper memorial post.

I liked him not only on Jeopardy! but also Classic Concentration.

The producers of Jeopardy! need to, should the show continue to air, remember that Alex Trebek was first and foremost a great host regardless of the game.

Condolences. .

He seemed to be a genuinely good person in addition to be a legendary host. Very sad.

I heard he was not the original host of jeopardy and he was the host for as long as I can remember. The show must have been around for a long time.

I think when he took over, the questions also got a lot easier. Apparently under the last host, the questions were absurdly difficult and it made the show less accessible to a general audience. But this was what I heard from my great grandmother; indeed the show is long-lived.

I've never watched it, but i did watch this.

Yes, the Jeopardy! that Trebek hosted was a revival that began in 1984. The original show ran on NBC with Art Fleming from 1964-75, when it was cancelled to make way for another game show... Wheel of Fortune. :)

Both Fleming and announcer Don Pardo make cameos in the Weird Al video posted by @Broken_Erika.
