Altered Maps ΙΓ: To make a map larger than what it maps.

Somewhere 'round Serbia, Macedonia, Romania and Thrace. Nothing too much; all useless pieces of land. Except for Romania, there was salt in Transsylvania. Apart from that? "hurr durr, we're on three seas!".

Also, I've always disliked the "empire" part, put to states wholly undeserving. It's like saying that there's a Swedish Empire because they own Finland or something.

That map would be infinitely more useful if it was in colour or had some labels.

Incidentally, from 1611 to 1721, there was a Swedish Empire, with control over more than Finland.

I'd guess it's actually squiggly lines and Domen's screwing with us, but I doubt it. So, hopefully, could someone put where Berlin, Warsawa and Moscow is? So that we could, y'know, see the full grandeur and splendor of the Polish "empire".

OK but it seems that its monarchs called themselves Emperors (some of them also Khans and Tsars).

Maybe I will improve it later.

So, hopefully, could someone put where Berlin, Warsawa and Moscow is?

Sure. Wait a minute. OK:

These titles were only in their dreams. When I think Empire, I think something more grandeur than "some frozen land and Pommerania". And more long-lasting - nobody likes an empire that disappears 4 seconds after the great ruler dies.

Think Persia, Britain or France during their colonial periods. Spain, too, if only it wasn't so mismanaged.

Empires are nasty things and not something to take pride in, I think.

Actually Berlin used to be part of the Duchy of Jaxa of Kopanica, who was briefly a vassal of Poland.

So maybe I should also mark Berlin as part of Poland, but boundaries of the Duchy of Jaxa are uncertain:

Duchy of Kopanica:

http://translate.google.com/transla...l.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ksi%C4%99stwo_Kopanickie

And also the Republic of Novgorod and the Republic of Pskov were, briefly, vassal states of Poland-Lithuania.

But the map posted above does not include them (just like it does not include the Duchy of Kopanica).

Well, it's now slightly less meaningless, but hardly a help to anyone who didn't draw it.

I didn't say otherwise.

I was just pointing out what I define as an empire.

I know, it just seems like all this posting of Polish stuff has a "Poland stronk" vibe going to it.

How about now (the same map compared to modern borders and with locations of cities):

Kop. Duchy = Duchy of Kopanica
Pskov Rep. = Republic of Pskov
Novgorod Rep. = Republic of Novgorod

When it comes to modern borders (red for Poland, white for other states):

Rosja = Russia
Łotwa = Latvia
Białoruś = Belarus

Etc., etc. (I don't think I need to translate).

Now, that's a map, yes. :)

I was googling some stuff and I came across this alt history map of a post-WWI Turkey:

Gee, I wonder why Turkey lost so much coastline.

Must counter poland

In terms of sheer landmass this "all time Netherlands" is probably still smaller than "all time Poland".

it's still unreadable

It depends what exactly do you expect to read from it ???

Gee, I wonder why Turkey lost so much coastline.

Gee... yes you are close!
