Actually, looking at the state of Egypt on the map, and considering that Egypt and the Islamic Golden Horde were quasi-allied, and given that the Kingdom of Jerusalem has been resurrected, and given that Christiandom and the (then) non-Muslim Ilkhanate had briefly touched on the possibility of an alliance OTL, it appears that the Ilkhanate and Christiandom had defeated the Islamic alliance of the Mameluks and the Golden Horde, so that blue blob there in Western Asia would be the Ilkhanate, not the Golden Horde.

the desalinzation plants will raise the price of water. many factors why. and people shoudl really stop wasting water. the only thign you need to use water is for animals and plants. screw looking nice,, at least there will be a lot more water to use

Sure it'd be expensive at first, but often short-term costs are vastly outweighed by long-term benefits. That's how all investments work.

The ongoing costs of desalination as higher than that of improving irrigation methods (eg. reducing evaporation) or water recycling. Relative to what it could otherwise be, it raises costs.
