Communist Germany 1935
Wouldn't having a Communist Germany benefit the Soviet Union? Rather than destroy it?

What is the POD? It appears to have occurred during or shortly after WWI (Irish not independent).

And a nitpick, Newfoundland's debt wouldn't have forced it into Canada by 1935. It's government status is up in the air (namely the amount of British control), but it would never (nor did it ever) willingly join Canada.

Quality of Life for Ireland... what?

I think it might be a bit out of date.

Either that or ghost estates are considered great craic in the rest of the world.

some of it is odd... Uruguay won the world cup first, but not most, and Ukraine is not and never was the largest user of T-80s. interesting stuff though

At the bottom right is says "mostly as a % of population" and "many journalistic tricks were used to make this work"

Yeah the Ireland data is from 2005

I, for one, would also like to know the answers to those questions. Unfortunately the savant that created the original map (you see the adapted version I made on the previous page) is uncommunicative at present.

That must be some journalistic trick to say that Lesotho has the highest population.

I would have thought Australia would be worse off than that. Either the results are mistaken or I am misunderstanding what it is measuring.

It seems to be measuring the risk to the natural environment for the whole country. I think Australia would've been ranked worse if not for the fact that much of the country is so sparsely populated. Their website is here.

Damn the inverse correlation between wealth/power and environmental quality...

I want to keep my first-class lifestyle, damnit. :(

Lesotho is blue...

I assume this works the same for most of Russia and Brazil as well where if you count the areas where people actually live, they can be close to intolerably polluted.
