Map of majority for each party in the Greek prefectures in the previous election.

Sad to see a pink Thessaloniki...

By the way, the Gray peninsula in Chalcidike is Mt Athos, possibly the most important Orthodox monastic community globally, with semi-autonomy in the country (a bit like the Vatican in Italy).

Also i noted that there are a couple of differences between the two maps posted. A part of Attica is won by New Democracy in my map, and also Kerkyra (Corfu) is again for New Democracy in mine, but for Syriza in the other map.

Also there is a seperation of the central demos of Thessaloniki, from the rest of the city.

When will they accept Catalans in there?

AFAIK anyone can go there, unless he has the disadvantage of being...a woman ;)

Women AND Catalans are not allowed in the Mt. Athos. The Catalan singer Josep Tero (nobody really knows this guy) was making a trip in Greece in 1993. When he was at Mt. Athos he identified himself as a Catalan in a monastery, which resulted on him being kicked out from Mt. Athos. That's how we all Catalans came to know that the prohibition from the 14th century of Catalans not being allowed to enter the Mt. Athos was still being enforced. That's why I'm asking if something has changed since 1993 (which I doubt).

I was not aware of that. I guess it is the same old deal with the old Catalan company (merceneries who turned on the Empire).
Maybe you could (gasp) identify yourself as Spanish? :D

Occitan. Screw French and Spanish Imperialism.

We turning against the empire? No way, it was the empire that backstabbed us!

BTW, I know two Catalans (men, of course) who have been in Mt. Athos. The first one was studying in Thessaloniki for a year and said that he was "from Barcelona", which means that monks there suck at geography. The other one said that he was Italian.

Goths! We're from Gothia and our country is Gauthalaunia.

Are you sure that they are still alive though? :mischief:

Why don't you just say you're Spanish? Catalonia is just a province, you know?

That's like an Englishman saying he's from Middletownshire-upon-nowheressex instead of saying he's from the UK, it makes no sense.

Catalans are more like the Irish.

Yup. alvie and back to the Catalan motherland for everyone to know about their "adventure" in Mt. Athos.

Please answer these questions:

You see a guy from Edinburgh, would you call him English?
You see a guy from Cardiff, would you call him English?
You see a guy from London, would you either Scottish or Welsh?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Catalans are more like the Irish.

Mmmm... A "good" parallel would be

Catalans = Scotsmen
Basques = Some weird mixture of the Welsh and northern Irish
Galicians = Non-violent northern Irish
Portuguese, Andorrans and Gibraltar = Irish

And now back to maps.
