If a majority of your state's population is creationist, you automatically fail science forever.
 
The fact you don't use metric really can't help.
 
That means you have to spend a lot of the time on learning conversions, it also adds an extra level of thinking (radians and degree conversions have caught me out a number of times).
 
Given that a lab is a closed environment and that measured instruments most probably come in metric, I don't see those conversions. :p
 
With the UK working with road speeds in imperial I am assuming there examiners are as mean as ours and enjoy testing that.
