AND2 and SVN Bug Reports - A New Dawn 2 ONLY

@luvencedus: Oh ok. Then my setup is different. My computer is currently set to Russian, I'll set it back to French to test. I also fixed signs display, which may fix this (the fix is not released yet).
Try to change language (f.e. Polish) and reload your savegame, just to try. EDIT: When changing to English, I don't have a crash neither. This is your save, at next turn: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/369241/luvencedus_Assurbanipal AD-1697.zip

@Afforess: How to debug a recurrent crash for others that does not crash for me ? Any idea?

Just a thought: does anyone know for sure whether a 2GB machine can handle a large (one up from standard) map, and if not, would it be expected to CtD somewhere around 2200BC on the slowest game speed?

@dbkblk Thank you, but this save also has CTD on turn end :C
I tried to change language, but it doesn't help.

It didn't crash for you because your game settings were not the same as the players. Specifically, you had max units per tile on, and they did not.

Even if you computer can't handle a map size, you should not see it crash, you should see it run the game very slowly.

The only time a crash might occur is if you graphics card can not handle the number of units in the game, which causes a separate crash that informs you of a MAF (memory allocation failure), and then crashes. A crash to desktop w/o an error message is a always, always, a bug.

Afforess, you da man. Loaded a couple of my earlier saves, turned on max units per tile - hey presto, no CtDs. :-)

@Afforess: Thank you to have fixed this. I thought BUG options were saved into the savegame!? Most of the time, when I load savegames from players it changes all my options.
I will write the "profile" system for the launcher so we can easily recreate the same environment as the player.

@dbkblk: I got the impression some/most/all (?) BUG settings are saved seperately. If you start a new game with some changed BUG settings, take a few turns, save the game, then provoke a CtD so that Civ does not exit cleanly, when you reload your saved game, your changed BUG settings have been lost. Unless I'm mistaken.

@shipdit: All BUGs settings are also saved in UserSettings/ but when you load a savegame with others settings, some are overwritten.

i have 3 dart thrower, i selected them and pushed upgrade to spearmen and all three of the, upgraded for 90 gold...

@team: Is there a problem with realistic timescale ? When I simulate a game (AIAutoplay) in quick speed, I've already discovered Flintlock at 654 BC.

Savegame:

EDIT: This is because "Can trade civ is ON" and I haven't noticed. I hate that setting :x

@masaykh: Could you provide a savegame ? That was precisely the python error I wanted to fix yesterday but I couldn't find my savegame.

@dbkblk: isn't that half the fun of it? While your example is a bit extreme, if we're playing what-if scenarios with human history, what if we hadn't spent the best part of a thousand years believing that science was heresy?

Seriously though, I couldn't say, I always have realistic timescale off.

With regard to balancing in general, I don't envy whoever has that task. When so much depends on luck of the draw with the map, where do you even start?

.

I've also noticed some strange behaviour since Afforess changed part of the code; I need to look at it again. Also Flexible AI isn't working properly yet.

And what if we removed the date on the interface ? What does it bring to the game if turns are already there ?

It's been already proposed and discarded. Some players don't like the idea (I'm one of them to tell the truth)

The date is part of the fun. Just don't take it too seriously.
