I'm away for the weekend and have this testweek in school (exams almost every day next week), so I won't be able to play... gah.

With this game being as big as it is, I'm a bit more loose on how fast the save moves.

I must admit that I was not thrilled about trying to bring this one home with it being so close. I guess I'm being a bit chicken. I'll give this priority over other SG's when it comes back my way.

Very little warfarae. Just kept encroching on the old Russian towns. The eastern half is now filled.

Only 129 left and 28 years to go. If we can keep that average gain we will get to Domination in 2041....

We can only get about 75 more tiles from Rome assuming we fill all the spaces between the remaining cities and none choose to convert.

The eastern Russian peninsula is pretty well filled so future settler deliveries need to go to Russia Neck or Umtata will be ours... for delivery to the homeland of Rome and western Russian peninsula.

There is a spot left to claim on We can always hope island that will add a few more coastal tiles.

It's time to foment war with the Germans again. Unfortunately it is going to take about 1/3 of the turns left to get enough cash for a tech steal attempt and to reposition the settler army.

We have at least four settlers on the German island so that's 20+ tiles in the first four or five turns of war, unless of course his Panzers take us down.

We crossed the 200K culture mark this set BTW.

We should try propagandizing some Roman tundra cities. There are some one pop cities that will be fairly easy to flip.
 
Propaganda is cheap on the pop1 cities but my tries at Antium and Kiev failed. Prorbably because of the garrisons.

One other thing to consider: Space Race must be on as both Cleo and Julius have parts in the bin. Julius can't build anymore but Cleo sure can.....
 
Do we want to try getting New South Ice? It was our city originally and might still have a Zulu citizen.

I say we keep on trying to get Kiev. It's nine valuable tiles that are relatively easy to get.
 
First of all, sorry to be so verbose. But here we go...

The date is 2022 AD and I don’t have a clue. Time to survey and plan.
Thanks to our many spies we know that our military is superior to all others.
Research is off but a single scientist tell me that computers, Mech Inf., is 16 turns off. With only 28 years to go that’s not much time but we’ll work it for 1gpt nevertheless.
We have very little in the way of cash. Unit cost is zero but maintenance on our cultural buildings is ~40% of our budget.

How to grab land? We’re 129 tiles from victory so we need a 5/tpt (tiles per turn) pace. Bede’s pace the past five turns was very nice.

Time to reread the thread and glean sage advice.

Foment war w/ Germany? Sure, they have but a single Panzer.
Tech stealing? I don’t see how that will help us at this point unless the objective is to start a war.

I’m going to investigate culling some infrastructure items out of our core to increase our cash flow and then survey the cities to propagandize.

Any build that’s more than more than 28 turns gets scrutinized.
We’re on the hairy edge of having to pay maintenance on our forces so I’m working under the assumption that shiny, new units replace older units. Therefore, we don’t need anything more than core cities generating units.
There will be no more rushing of units or infrastructure in the homeland because we need the cash for propaganda.
Argh! I really wish I could put a stop to Sun Tzu’s because we have to have 70 barracks that are doing us no good whatsoever.

I don’t see a Space victory as a threat. Cleo’s building 2 but then will need another 6.
I think we can get as many as 8 cities in the Russian “neck” tundra.
Settler being built in “We can always hope” will go to grab the last coastal tile.

I tried to tick off Herman but it didn’t work.

IBT:
Cleo added another part to her ship but did not start on the 5th.
We got a culture expansion but it didn’t add any tiles.

Turn 1 – 2023AD

Moved a settler into position on Roman territory.
I would like to also foment war w/ England and starve down their cities to make them better targets for culture and flips. However, they do have 7 tanks and 67 infantry.

IBT:
Romans send a few guerrillas on suicide missions.
Avaris (Egypt) flips to us and we pick up 11 tiles.
The Germans put two battleships in our waters which will give us a nice opportunity to get them to declare.

Turn 2 – 2024 AD
117 tiles to go.
Hmmm, I can only ask the Germans to leave.

Initiating propaganda: Kiev – No, Odessa – No, South Ice – No, Pompeii – No

IBT: Egypt landed what looks like an attack force next to Hamburg. I guess they're pissed about Aravis.

Turn 3 – 2025 AD
Found “Tiles 115-113”
Moving more settlers around Rome.
Egypt declared war!! Let's hope she drags the Germs into this fray.
Egypt: 4 tanks, a war chariot, and a cavalry.
Arty takes off 7 total hp’s.
We attack w/ our lone tank on the German continent and kill a ¾ tank and then our ¾ tank dies leaving a ¼ tank in it’s ashes.

IBT: Egypt loses two bombers and most of their invasion force. We lose an infantry to a Roman guerilla escorting a settler.

The citizen’s of Newcastle, size 12, have flipped! We show our gratitude by starving them.

Turn 4 – 2026 AD
99 tiles to go!
Lots of troop movements including a landing on Egyptian soil to wreak havok.
No transports ready on the home continent so new builds get sent to Newcastle to quell flip probability.

IBT:
Cleo bombs our army w/ cruise missiles.

Turn 5 – 2027 AD
Found “Tiles 99-93”
Maneuver forces to keep flip risks as low as possible.

Notes:
36 Tiles gained. Many more than expected.
Watch the Egyptian Battleship (1/4) and transport near Aravis. We really could use a few more units over there.
We have 5 settlers and escorts moving down the Russian tundra.
Egyptian conscript rifle near Randomton.
We have 1053g in the bank so the next leader can decide what to do with it since my attempts were pretty lame.

I don't know why this didn't occur to me on turn 0 but, any thoughts to abandoning the Sun Tzu's city and then selling off the bulk of the barracks? We need gold more than we need vet units. Plus the benefit of Sun Tzu's on for our continent only. It's currently doing us more harm than good and is of no future benefit.
 
I'll wait a while to see if Jurimax shows up...

We could also go through the cities and try to sell all of the barracks with Sun Tzu's. We can still sell barracks with Sun Tzu's. We could, of course, abandon Sun Tzu's and sell select barracks, because I want to keep some of them.

Actually, when I went to sell barracks I found that I could not. I assumed it was an affect of TS's.
 
Perhaps we have already sold them? I know that you can sell barracks in cities that had them before ST's.
