Ank12 - A little Furball? - 3CC AW Redux

Working on it. Will post tonight.

Barely hanging on at home and getting the wounded back under cover in Greece. Still need to build ships to reinforce the troops over there.

1904-1924

Industrialization came in and started factories, due in 3 or so. Science now at 0.

Greeks kept landing at home with multiples of cavalry and infantry. They are now shipping in transports covered by ironclads, though destroyers have been spotted both on the coast of Greece and in the NW corner at home.

The troops in Greece barely made it back to the cover of the choke fortresses. Took four turns and lost a cavalryman every turn. Then lost two more trying to clear up the wounded infantry and cavalry on the plain.

The Greeks held a fortress briefly after wounding the rifle with a destroyer shelling and a cava and infantry attack. Cav were driven off but the infantry took and held the fortress.

Sunk three Greek ironclads in home waters then lost one of ours to a counter barrage from two more that charged in out of the fog.

Still haven't built any galleons yet. Factory production should let us ramp up the navy pretty quick, at about the rate we can fill them with cavalry from the P-towns. It is going to take some serious ironclad cover to get them to Greece now that Alex has destroyers cruising the sea lanes.

got it

do we need to close the choke? i'd rather keep troops away from coast and attack greek units when they're on flat land behind choke.

I debated that so you can go ahead and wreck the fortress on the hill if you want. I just didn't want to give them a hilltop to pick at out troopers.

Control of the sea is critical now. Getting the factories should help immensely. Make sure we sail as a fleet.

Looks like it's friday and I forgot this a little...

We'll wait for el_filet until tomorrow, I think. :)

1924 AD (0):

go for epheseus, we'll need some rifles over there after this assault

IBT:

IBT:
2 bombers now and the usual naval bombardment
cannon stack loses rifle & elite cav

pasar: cav->cav
susa: coal->galleon

1944 AD (10):
finally get rid of the ONE invader

notes:
let to many troops defending choke, so failed to raze ephesus.
bad call to guard choke, should have concentrated on city. i don't think we can afford another assault before our reinforcemnts are ready.
susa produces galleon every turn, but i'm not sure we have enough clads.
missed an immo for partrush, should have used knights too. we may use them for something else. but we cant't get to 80 spt in any city with coal plant.
think scientist is worth the 2gpt we're losing for him
there were about 2 destroyers around, 5ish clads. plus at least one of each retreated to repair.
there were at least 3 artys in ephesus

Ok... good thing Susa is building them so fast; we'll need a horde of ships.

Perhaps we should concentrate on clads now?

Andvruss is up.
I'm on deck

i waited for the plant until we have 5 clads, no galleon/frigates. we might want to get cheaper frigates instead, in case we need more war ships.

we need clads. We're facing destroyers, at least clads have a small prayer against them.

Sorry I need a skip, very sorry. I chipped my CD a while ago, and it worked before, but doesn't want to work right now :(. I don't have the recent save, or for a couple days ago, so sorry for that, I do need a skip to get a replacement or try to somehow fix the crack in the CD.

Yes, I played finally five turns. No, nothing happened, really. I killed some Greeks at the choke in former China. Lost an ironclad on an unlucky tour. And an elite cav at the front to a 1-hp inf... we did get some workers, though.

Here's the front:

and the save...http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads9/Ank12_129f_1952AD.SAV

Bugsy is up
And el_filet or Bede is on deck

Roger that. I have it. Last few Magnificent Seven turns to go.

I guess this SG has no hope... less than 100 turns isn't enough to kill greece.

And my interest in Civ has dropped to zero... :undecide:

Thanks for the games, folks, and bye. I doubt I'll play a Civ 3 SG ever again.
