What should we use the leader for? I guess another sword army would do good... or should we snag a wonder?
I would say an MDI army - this is PTW Ankka :)

I can play tonight, so you can pick it up on Sunday, so I got it.

Edrine can also use an aqueduct when you can spare the shields.
It has fresh water, if I am not mistaken, but we should get up libraries and markets in all cities. Shall I do that first in favour of advancing?

Edit: wow, this game really looks bad. We have a good chance to lose 5 workers and 3 slaves on the IBT. 1 unfortified pike on grassland has to defend vs 2 swords Let's pray Hannibal does not disband them :(

I have no clue how to get Selim home in decent time; shall I risk it to let him run on his own towards the road that connects our wines? Does the AI have units in that area?

The situation isn't too good. Let's hope the RNG is with us and the pike over the workers survives the possible attacks of the 2 swords and the NuMerc.

IBT: The NuMerc passes by and moves West... but the first sword attacks, and ou pike is helpless and loses taking off only 1 hp. We lose something like 7 slaves... well, we get 4gpt back. But the slaves are killed. Those Carthaginians must pay for this atrocity! They won't kill our people just like that! (0-5)

470AD [2]: I remember someone's sig saing "When you are lacking everything, you know you're in combat" or something like that. Seems that we are in combat. Because we're lacking units big time. We have cats to bombard but not enough units to kill the wounded or exposed enemies.

The Carth ones are a bit too tough... but there could be a nice Spanish one near the Southern camp which could be attacked from a hill. Let's try it.

IMHO fast units are better to used in the East, where roads are scarce. Slowmovers can use the road south to get there faster.

I do not think we can make it to Sipahi and we can't make it without them. East is pretty much lost. I saved some units inside the colony, but Catharge broke through. We won't get the next Spanish city soon, because jungle stops our cats. We retook incense and the road to the south though.

Have faith. We may have to turtle a bit and invest in some infrastructure. We can do it.

Turtle, establish some stationary fronts to keep the number of AI cities down, and then build an expeditionary force to take out one AI civ at a time. If I hadn't lost us a bunch of workers we could better build some fortifications. :rolleyes:
 
Exactly what I 'm trying to do.

Taking it on the chin right now as everybody is sending troops and settlers at us, and the kill ratio is at best 1-1, but ew're nor falling behind. Towns are pretty productive and I think we are still out producing the local guys. Germany is another problem.

ANd I just noticed Korea is on an island.... :aargh:

At least we only have one civ off continent. In DI1 we had two. Just be ready for a steady stream of vessels floating up to our backdoor once their production is up.

I know archers are not popular among some, but we can use them for ugrade to longbows, and that 4-attack sure looks handy covered by pikes. Archers are cheap right now and we can get a few between now and Invention. Experience proved this was an idea that was really bad....

Wake up a worker and build a gems colony on the road south.

Looking at the situation south, it appears that moving into Spanish homelands is a non-starter what with jungles blocking the artillery. If I turn attention to the west and head into England there is at least one town that will let us build an army.

Do a some citizen retasking to get 10spt minimums and boost the income. Start the slaves back from the wines colony to put a fortress on the iron hill outside the borders of Edrine.Horse running recon uncovers a german spear wandering in the woods, must be Hansel looking for Gretel? :hmm:

Cathaginians certainly seem to spawning like salmon in the southeast.

English MDI come running up the road from the south and wipe out the front end of the expedition, capturing three slaves.

Koreans threaten Edrine.

660AD
Dispatch the offending English with cat fire and the elite horse and an MDI and find another English. Cover the MDI with the pike on the colony and hope he waits for reinforcement. Otherwise he gets the pike, and the wounded archers will get the cats and the colony.

Hansel is looking for Hans, there is another German spear wandering up the road.

Dispatch the Koreans and occupy the fortress on the road from Edrine.

The Southern force moves back toward England.

Kill ratio is 3-2.

A NuMerc is creeping toward Istanbul

Lose a horse killing three Germans and move cats and swords above Reading after killing English bowman

Kill most of the Carthaginians at Edrine but the surviving archer cuts the lux road and Istanbul riots.

700AD

Kill an Aztec settler pair and move on down the road. Put cats and swords in position at Reading but advance cat bombardment is a failure against pikes. English MDI were seen heading north.

Capture Korean settler pair but horseman escapes. Kill the offending archer at Edrine, then swap Istanbul's build to a worker to replace the road and relieve some populaation pressure.

Raise lux to 20%.

Carthage lands an MDI at Edrine and the Koreans drop spear/sword off at Istanbul.

English MDI and archer seen leaving Reading appear on jungle road.

710AD
Southbound expedition pulls back to gems colony.

Cats at Reading go 1-4 and at least two pikes are in the garrison and only two swords to attack. Hold for now.

Then try to figure out what to do about the bogies inbound.

Kill a German MDI inbound to the spices.

720AD
Kill two Carthaginans and wound an English MDI. Attack at Reading is stalled for he moment as the cats got the range and hurt a pike but then killed a citizen.

Two German MDI, one wounded are on top of the incense colony. Workers are frantically building a fortress. There are cats and two horses fortified on the colony. Cross fingers and hope it holds. No way to reinforce.

This was a bad year. Both the incense colony and the gems colony were lost along with the defenders, cats and workers.

730AD
Not much better. Kill two Germans but lose an archer. Fortress completes on plains. There is one Korean in the forest north of Istanbul on a pillaging mission, and an Aztec spearman making a small nuisance of himself.

740AD
Remove the Aztec and Germans from within the borders, there are two Germans on the edge of the territory and a NuMerc hanging about in the east.

Force at Reading does not much more than harass the pike in the town.

Two English MDI attack fortress on southern border and die.


750AD

Turtling up to protect the southern border.

Once the three English MDI in the mountains south and the three Germans east are dealt with the incursions should be little more than a trickle. Once the coast is clear I would build another fortress in the forest east of Edrine.

Invention is due in two so maybe we can use Selem to build Leo's workshop in Bursa. He's been hiding out there.

The only thing the force at Reading has beeen able to accomplish is little more than harassment, but I don't know what else to do with them.

If we can put cats, horses and pikes into the funnel in the east then we can turn attention south.

I lost track of the kill ratio but it was not much more than 2-1 :wallbash:

This is much harder than the last one. We can do it though. We're already much better off than DI1. We may want to set up a second funnel down by Edrine. See how the prevailing AI winds blow and then build forts to parallel the winds.

I'd go for Leo's with the leader.
