Except that the 1 civ of that is like 6 times bigger... but not stronger. :D

Bede: like I said, Russia won't be a problem. ;) :p

Oh...........^*#@$@
I just went to upload and wondered why all my ANK saves were in Civ 3 1.29 vanilla, except for the other one, which I downloaded into the C3C folder!
Will replay../

thought about espionage too, but i don't think have the money to put it to use. i'd say either industrialization or toward RP. unless we have enough money to get electricity fast, i'd prefer factories.

Ok... no matter, andvruss.

I will be away for the next week, so Sir Bugsy will be in charge. :)

I'll be coming back on the 26th or 27th.

Steam in 2.

I have it. What a classic way to end this thing. Xerxes v. Alexander I couldn't have written a better script.

Pre-flight – 1884 – This is a much more fair fight. Alex’s power curve is at something like four times ours, but we can do this. Three iron sources, so nothing we can do about that. No clue where the rubber is. Steam in two .

IBT – The Greeks retreat from the front. Some offshore bombardment. Looks like a landing force is sailing/styeaming up the

1. 1886 – Gather our forces for the march on Canton. Here’s a picture of the front:

ANK12_-_1886_Front.JPG

IBT – The Greeks are turtling. No one steps forth. Steam=>industrialization. I go for 100% science, due in 15 turns costing us 1335G, we have 1487G in the bank.

2. 1888 – We have coal down in England. We have a worker standing on it, instant colony, begin RRing the capitol. Continue march on Canton. The Greeks have two sources of coal, neither can be gotten to easily.

IBT – A single Greek infantryman attacks our stack and dies. A second landing fleet appears with a transport in tow.

3. 1890 – We move into position next to Canton. Persepolis can now produce a three-turn cav. Canton is on a hill and may be a tough nut to crack.

IBT – A Greek infantry is dropped off next to Susa. An ironclad sinks our frigate then abandons the transport. We lose a wounded rifle to a cav, three infantry march out of Canton.

4. 1892 – I sack the Artillery General as we only get two hits out of all those cannon. I probe Canton’s defenses and it appears there are only two infantry defending. I press home the attack, slowly wear down the two defenders and raze the city. Sixteen cities to go. Lose one cav. Now Alex is down to two iron sources. I throw a cav at the invader, but don’t even scratch him.

IBT – We lose our two frigates to the Greek navy. Lose a cav to a Greek inf, kill a Greek inf. The invader attacks and loses at Susa.

5. 1894 – The next artillery general does better and keeps his job for a season. Killing a redlined Greek infantry, Darius appears

Here’s an eagle’s eye view of Greece. I think we need to think through our final campaign strategy.
ANK12_-_1894_Greece.JPG

I figure we have three options. Work south down the east coast, work north along the northern coast or drive straight down the middle a la Sherman.

slow but steady progress. i don't think we can do better then that. looking forward to facts.

vote for going S, rather raze some big cities. hope you built some clads to stenghten our navy.

I think separating Greece into halves is our best bet. There is probably oil under the ice and it would not be nice to have Green tanks rattling around on the plains.

Can Darius go back home to build a factory?

I was liking the Sherman March to the Sea idea too.

Our first ironclad was just launched. We'll need several more to gain control of the sea lane. In DI1 we bombarded then attacked when redlined, just like on land. We should put together a nice fleet of clads.

6. 1896 - Start the long march to Pharsalos. Railing gets Susa to a 3 turn ironclad. Our new IC sinks a Greek galleon.

IBT – A Greek ironclad loses to our new IC.

7. 1898 – Pasagardae is now a three turn cav.

IBT – A Greek settler pair heads our way

8. 1900 – Collect two slaves. Continue the march on Pharsalos, pillaging a three tile path across Greece.

IBT – Lose a rifle and a cav outside Pharsalos.

9. 1902 – Move next to Pharsalos. Capture two more slaves, but lose two cavs.

IBT – Lose two more cavs out of the Pharsalos force.

10. 1904 – Raze Pharsalos without loss although we retreat several cavs. Pharsalos was where the red dot was:

ANK12_-_1904_Greece.JPG

On patrol I find two inf and a settler to the north. Kill one inf, send the army that way.

Here’s that situation:
ANK12_-_1904_North.JPG

I send the army up there.

After Action – The Greeks have some serious culture. We will probably need to pull the Pharsalos force back to heal the head down either coast. With all that culture it is a long way to get our cannon into position. We have two ironclads, with a third about to be launched.

Got it. Kill Greeks, replace our navy.

Good job, both, while I was away.

How about razing Ephesus? It looks like there is a lot of culture there, and it's small > no defence bonus.

But I agree getting the big cities is more effective as that'll slow their production..
