I wonder: how many of us also has an account on the hi5 or myspace?

Almost everyone I know has an account on hi5. Almost nobody I know has an account on myspace. Hmm... these things really vary from (geographical) region to region.

Also I don't know anyone on MSN, but everyone on Yahoo.

And no, I don't have an account on either. Though I probably should get a myspace, being a guitarist et all... :(

WTH is hi5? is that like myspace/facebook for unfashionable (i.e. non-american) people?

 ya but it isn't unfashionable, maybe more European(able)

ahh so its like one of those "look at the cool thing americans do, lets make our own version of it because we want to be cool like americans" things?

Irony or not! I met hi5 first and only a VERY VERY long time after I know about the other! Soo for me is more the americans copy the european/rest of the world version! Big

I also think is more geographic!

I wonder why?

You probably just didn't hear about myspace first because you're probably not cool (i.e. you don't keep track of american trends)

Thank God that I am not a tracker of american trends!
Not everything that is American is cool!

Not everything that is American is cool!

Name one thing. (American things that pander to non-Americans don't count: you have to name one genuinely American thing)

George W Bush!!!

1. Why isn't he cool?

2. Why should I accept your ability to differentiate coolness when you aren't even American?

1. If coolness is to declare war without concrete evidence! Course it is! (Being sarcastic)!

2. The concept of coolness depending on our own culture and concepts that society gives us!!! Because I'm not American I have a different point of view completely destintive of yours, and another individual!

Now that does not mean that I don't have a concept of what may be cool or not!

I only have Facebook, and I am thinking about canceling that account.

1. Its badass (i.e. cool) to do stuff involving guns without good reason.

2. Even if you disagree with 1., you can do one uncool thing and still be cool overall.

2. The concept of coolness depending on our own culture and concepts that society gives us!!! Because I'm not American I have a different point of view completely destintive of yours, and another individual!

There are definitely objective criteria for coolness that are independent of cultural context. The fact that you don't understand this serves only to reinforce my point that non-Americans have no business deciding what is and isn't cool.

You must not be using it to its full potential of pulling women with questionable morals. ;)

Just I have a different perspective from you!!!
E.g. You may like rock, I may like folk! I respect your choise! Even if you don't respect my!
But I will not say I don't like it cause I don't! if I didn't listen to it first!

(1. Not all staff are resolve with guns!)

2. YES you may do uncool things that after it will be cool!

But it's false to say "non-Americans have no business deciding what is and isn't cool"! Cause also Americans have no business deciding what is and isn't cool to others!!!

It is getting late for me to continue the discussion! I'll be back tomorrow!

We're not talking about preference, we're talking about determination of coolness.

(1. Not all staff are resolve with guns!)

STRAWMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. YES you may do uncool things that after it will be cool!

True, but the point is that the coolness-value of those things is determined by the objective coolness criteria, which, being non-american, you know nothing about.

But it's false to say "non-Americans have no business deciding what is and isn't cool"! Cause also Americans have no business deciding what is and isn't cool to others!!!

First of all, your second statement bears NO causal relation to the first. Second, what on earth would lead you to believe that Americans have no business deciding what is and isn't cool?

It's only late afternoon/early evening in cool timezones.
