Ask A Bulgarian

Yes, well, those were czar Ioseph's objections, as stated. But what was the ideology in vogue, if any?

Not really. I doubt anyone in Bulgaria, much less in leadership would ever accept a decision to be ruled by a bunch of Serbs with a megalomaniac spin. It's just some 70 years since independence, and now, the very same people that we warred with at three times will rule us?

I can see your point. I'm glad to see that the contagion of pan-Slavism wasn't as widespread as it might have been. Apparently Czar Iosif stopped backign the plan when he had his split with Tito.

btw Tito wasn't Serbian himself but Yugoslavia did happen to be Serbo-centric at times.

I don't know. While most proponents of pan-Slavism might say that all Slav through the entire history were merry brothers who united against foreign invaders.

In truth, for most of history, especially now, the Slavic ethnicity, as all ethnicities was made of different bickering nationalities who didn't miss a moment to fight with each other for land, privileges, or for the sport.

You know, sometimes I can't help but reel over the crushing irony that the largest supporters of pan-Slavism aren't even purely Slavs.

Actually it was the opposite - already Abraham ben Jacob, a 10th century Jewish traveller from Muslim Spain, wrote about this:

Abraham ben Jacob said:
(...) Slavic countries extend from the Mediterranean Sea to the Northern Ocean. (...) Generally speaking, Slavs are warlike and violent, and if not their internal discord and lack of unity, no other nation would be able to match them in strength. (...)

the largest supporters of pan-Slavism aren't even purely Slavs.

Russians have a large Ugro-Finnic admixture (since they Russified them), true. However, there is no such thing as "pure Slavs" anywhere.

Just like there is no "pure anyone", not only Slavs (= speakers of Slavic languages). Time for you to move on from the Nazi era.

BTW - Pan-Slavism originated mostly among Czechs and Poles at first. Only later it spread to other Slavic regions.

Ethnicities tend to get rather mixed.

I remember one Georgian fellow who sought to rule over all the Slavs…

What do you think of Ladytron's cover of Kletva? What do you think of Mira Arroyo?

Moar music needed, Ahat's discography is not extensive enough.

That there'll be corpses, and lots of them. This is a pederasty of the original, and after listening to it, I felt as if all my memories were consecrated by a mad hobo.

How do you feel about Kristina, Miss Bulgaria?

You've made Tolni go away from the computer!

See, I know what to ask to bring Tolni back! I just saw her buying nuts from the vending machine. Sweet girl looked so hungry. ..

Are Bulgarians aware that, when speaking English, they say 'hello' in a very distinctive manner, unlike anyone, anywhere else?

Yes. That's used as a distraction that is used to steal the wallets of the gasping idiots. It's also often used to steal ur jerbs.

Well, sigh. I guess I'll start with Agate.
I need more. I've covered Импулс meanwhile, but it's never enough.
(and I've moved onto Ария, too, but they're Russians)

Now, how about going on about the language of the Bulgars?

What can you tell me about the availability of small arms for the average consumer?

Well. You can get them rather easily. All you need is a list of paper saying that you aren't totally ****oo nut crazy insane lunatic who recently escaped the nearest crap asylum, and some money.
