Ask A Bulgarian

Janissaries are usually thought of as traitors or slavers. It's mostly due to the fact that every single children, indeed has to learn how Christian kids were taken young and then turned into warriors who also killed more Christians. They're the most symbolic thing that the Ottomans have left.
Even worse than letting the Fyromians go to Mother Srbija instead of to Great Bulgaria?
With one leg on the Danube, and another in the Balkans (the mountain, not the peninsula) who freed three chains of slaves.
So not a full furlong?
That's not what this thread is about.
I thought Bulgaria was all about complaining about Romania.
Kyriakos, I've found a good flag & anthem for Bestmacedonia
I'll reply in Macedonian: Зајеби.

Aleksandar, you mean. But no. Still, he would probably have said 'γαμώτω' or something similar.

But back to Bulgaria…

According to Civ5 Alexander would say:

[gibberish] Αλέξανδρος ειμί! Γιός των ανακτών και εγγονός των Θεών!

Which means (ignoring some funny pronounciation by the voice in english) "[indistinct gibberish] I am Alexander! Son of the kings and grandson of the gods!

Well, since we're on the linguistic path anyway: How do Bulgarians know where to place their stresses? Why don't they use stress marks like the more civilised Hellenes?

In the Balkans you have these "Greater..." modes. Greater Bulgaria, Greater Serbia, etc., representing the largest historical extent of each country. But they are in the sphere of dreams. Except for Montenegro, which currently seems to be a Greater Montenegro (i.e. Montenegro was never larger than it is now):

How do Bulgarians view Montenegro and Montenegrins ???

Okay, so what's a video game stereotypically associated with Bulgarians? Ie, Starcraft is to South Korea as _____ is to Bulgaria.

Stress marks can go fall in a well and die.
Is this because Russiaball and sometimes Srbijaball use them?

Oh wait, you're learning Españish. Heh-heh.

Tetris? Bulgaria even had a czar until recently. ;)

At any rate the best Bulgarian computer game i have played (and probably the only one too, but in forums it is mentioned by others as a very good game ;) ) was Tzar: The burden of the Crown.

Notable also because the three cultures there are Middle-eastern, East-asian, and Byzantine :mischief:

Well, several. I'd personally nominate that Bulgarian RPG that I played in 2007 THAT I STILL CAN'T REMEMBER IT'S NAME but it had OP bows and stuff and you could be a trader and stuff.

But actually, it'd be closer to one of the more popular MMOs/MOBAs.

Mount & Blade ?

When I googled "bulgarian rpg video games" the first result I got was the steam page for the original Fallout (Bulgarian-language version of steam, that is).

On the second page of that Google sesrch, the first result there was this thread.

Conclusion: there aren't a lot of Bukgarian RPGs out there

Well, it is time to re-re-ressurect this thread once more, with a question:
Why? I mean, why are you interested in a minor country in the middle of nowhere?

Hark, Sir Tolnie of Bvlgarie! Today I hath a qvestione for thee: art there a manner of speeche, or writinge of yonder Bvlgarian langvage, vvhich, like "Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe" that I doth useth at this momente, mimickes the anciente mannere of the Bvlgarian langvage in a seeminglie accvrate, bvt in trvth horridlie incorreckte and wronge manner? If svch style of speech existeth, how doth it differ frome normal Bvlgarian?

Translatione
Spoiler :

Is there an equivalent of Ye Olde Butchered Englishe found in Bulgarian pop culture/internet/whatever? Basically a style of Bulgarian that mimics an antiquated style of speaking but is probably very inaccurate. How does it differ from normal Bulgarian?
