Ask A Bulgarian

We suspect it to be so, yes.

Can the Balkans kindly Stop Genocide each other ?
How did Italy control part of Asia Minor ????

According to a number of sources, the retreating Greek army carried out a scorched-earth policy while fleeing from Anatolia during the final phase of the war.[107] Historian of the Middle East, Sydney Nettleton Fisher wrote that: "The Greek army in retreat pursued a burned-earth policy and committed every known outrage against defenceless Turkish villagers in its path."[107] Norman M. Naimark noted that "the Greek retreat was even more devastating for the local population than the occupation

I'd like to remind, that, while this thread does have slightly more unserious content, it still remains RD, with all that entails.

(no this is not a joke)

Are you claiming to be the original Tolni? If so, prove it.

while not a Bulgarian , that would be the besieged town of Edirne . And the conquering of Anatolia would need naval lift by the Great Powers . Otherwise the limited amount of terrain left made it impossible to betray the country with wrong orders and blockading supplies without being noticed . As for the Italian control , it involves a bit of actually supplying the Kemalist movement with easy to loose armaments and good treatment of the civilians . All of which arise from the internal troubles of the Italians themselves .

That thread's deprecated now, isn't it?

A bit, but I consider whipping it in good shape once this chaos ends.

More serious questions, of course, would probably help...and me answering them, too.

Look, I've been answering, the problem is that the questions weren't that serious.

Do your countrymen recognize the significance of today?

Worry not. We live in a country which is financially stable.

We're always at the bottom.

What do you think is the number one reason for this?

So, was talking to the Tolnis on the IOTchats, we got talking on Bulgarian cultural history and he pointed me to this thread.

So, my bump/question is: "How influiential has Russia been on Bulgarian culture, oarticularly from c. 1700 onwards? Was the influence stronger in certain periods than others (the period from Berlin Conference to the outbreak of WW1 and the communist era come to mind to me as periods where Russia at least expressed greater political influence)? Is there any non-western* sources that Bulgaria draws from in a significant way?

*For the purposes of the question, I am defining the west as France, UK, USA, etc aka the liberal hotbed of Europe. I would not count, say, Greece or Italy, which had significant cultural differences with those western countries for most of the timeframe.

I actually have a question, do modern-day Bulgarians revere the memory of the First Bulgar Khanate still? Like, do you learn about how awesome Krum was in school?

Why has Bulgaria given GWB a puppy?

Do you like Bulgarian folk music? I am from the San Francisco Bay Area and my mom/dad/stepdad/stepmom and all their "aging hippie" friends love Bulgarian folk music so it's something I've grown up around myself.
