Ask an atheist (the second coming)

Since we have a Blame the Christian thread, I'd like to revive the Annoy and Atheist thread.

Also hoping it will again respawn Sir Pizza.

(To the tavern!)

I wouldn't mind if this turned into a fun "bash presuppositional apologetics" thread. It seems to be the last refuge of today's apologists now that they have all been squashed in the scientific arena.

I hate bananas, they are obviously made by God to fit into the human hand.

EDIT: Like a pistol

So, tell me again. When's this atheist coming again? He's been once, right?

edit: anyone ever see "Whistle down the wind"?

When a thread reaches 1000 post it is closed and a new one is started. This is the 2nd one. Ok, I am not an athiest, but this was an easy question.

We all know the second coming is a myth. No one is able to handle more than one of those in such a short timespan. People who tell you otherwise are lying.

Thread called. It's been looking at all these other threads discussing mythology as if they're still relevant.

And it feels sad :(

Don't feel sad :) We can always debate what science is in relationship to everything, reality, the universe or what ever you want to call it. Modern science as folk science has its own brand of myths. ;)

I consider myths to be culturally transmitted stories that have the effect of unifying a group. They may have a loose relationship to facts at a very low level, but this isn't required - it's mostly irrelevant to their effects.

I think myths are relevant to modern tribes, for better or for worse. Perhaps they shouldn't be, but at least for now we still have to live deal with them. Many people consider their identity completely wrapped up inside a particular mythology.
