I'm simply interested in cars generally.
Apart from that, I'm interested which companies can enter the Iranian market.
Peugeot's 206 is not the newest, 405 is from the 80s and the 504 is from the 70s. The Mercedes Benz 220 isn't new either.

Can foreign car manufacturers export their products to Iran? Or is it mostly second hand?

I also like to ask a light question between the ones about human right, Freedom and democracy :) .
all the cars import in new form (not secound handed) and from that time are in iran streets
pergout 206 and 405 are producing in iranian manufacturers
foreigner can export cars to Iran but with high tariffs (about 60 to 200%) because of government supports of Iranian manufacturers and so job opputunities and exports must be new and not secound handed(secound hand is not allowed) and also foriegn exporter must have some agancies for supporting buyers in Iran
I can' understand your secound queation explian more (if you asked)

Ok, so you don't feel concerned about those laws because they are appropriate to your life style (btw, looks like many westeners could live under these laws considering what we read here and there).
But do you recognize they are intolerant towards other life style that are no harm to anybody ?
IMO every rule and law can have bad effects on some life style
maybe some one like a life style only using my things belonged to me without permissin of me (known as steal and robbery) maybe he like this life style very much but it suffer me. so stablishing a law suffer who like this life style but satisfy me
I think democrasi is what majority said with exact and minimum right for everybody (known as human right) but who difine human right
maybe human right by your difinition is not my human right or some one else in africa or india

maybe you enjoy to see someone else has sex with your wife but maybe I gonna angery and kill both of them and think this is my human right IMO but you think this is your wife's human right to have sex with every man who want
I thing difinition of human right is relative
maybe something be in US human right but not in Africa or Muslim countries

if a life style don't harm anybody else, all rational poeple accept that but maybe something suffer me but don't suffer you
i think something is harmfull but you think it is harmfull in this case i think majority of poeple must decide a life style is harmless or not
and Islamic law is using this logic as I know

Dear Iranians,

Do you have a local version of Coca Cola or another type of carbonated drink? What is your favorite carbonated drink?

Sincerely,
leonel

in iran there was a company produce products by the name of coca cola but i think original coca cola are diliked
before islamic revolution a company buy lesance from coca cola and then produce drinks by same name

but iranian'a traditional drink is Dough or Douq, it made from yoghurt and salt and water

we have also so much companies made drinks like coca cola by various names Parsi cola, Cofi cola and so much by this shape
but must famous company in producing drinks is Zam Zam
name of a water well and place in Macca
here is the link of this company
http://zamzamgroup.com/
i like products of this company a little more than others
but no diffrence and some times drink coca cola (exactly Fanta and spirit) and parsi cola and others
no alcohlic drink is permitted also many poeple drink them not in streets but in private places unless recieve some lashes for punishment (but everybody can pay financial punishment)

William GBTW Question(s): 1. Do Iranians support Chinese Communism (then again why would you? It prohibts religion)? 2. Does the Iranian Government prohibt Americans from going to Iran? 3. Can a known Arab or other traditionally Muslim ethnic person become a follower of Islam? 4. Does Iran use the same musical scale as the Arabs? If so could you explain it to me? 5. Why don't you call your country "Persia"? 6. As an economist what is your view on the Iranian economy? Thanks[/QUOTE said:
1. NO communism look unsuitable on religion so Iranians don't support it but admire chinese because of thier history and development
iranians don't like 1 superpower (us) and like some power
and look china as a country that prevent US from doing anything that like and wish (attacking here and there and others)
iranians rootely have difficulties with commonism mainly becuase of religion but by examption of religion they like chinese position.
2- NO iranians wellcome american but after US do fingerprinting, irani government do the same and IMO this cause some problems before americans as tourist came iran and see historical sites
3-sorry I don't understand
plz dexcribe more
4- no arab muzic in iran known as Bandari muzic and it is diffrent from traditional muzic of iran
its a little sad and have some known styles
see wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_music
IMO this can help you
5- because other nation call us persian and we call themselves Irani and place we live Iran from ancient time of herodotos and other historicans i can't find a reason to call ourselves persian
Pars or Fars is a province of iran and not whole of it and one of the ethincs of iran is persian or Parsian
reffer to posts describe about ethnic miniorities of Iran
6- its heaviely depand on oil revenues and government main actor in economy because oil resorces are national and also other mineral resources althought newly some parts are given to private sector but main actor is govermnet
IMO by developing economy culture of poeple change so economic development can causes some effects on better democrasi in Iran by decreasing share of government
and finally IMO i'm not a economist I only a economics student

I know all of them but for example Siddharta Gautama mention something about Confucius in original text and tought and also for else execpt for Mormonism because this is created in modern age and I'm sure Mormonism have complete knowladge of all religions and maybe by mixing some of them build a new

i mean ancient time that poeple rarely know about other poeple
in past posts i ask some one from Parsian of India about Jamasp one of the religious men of Zoroastrianism said that he was husbend of girl of Zarathushtra and he said something about other prophets originally said by Zarathushtra but by more searching I find less information
he have a book by the name of Jamasp Nameh (means post of Jamasp) but i can't find it in iran or internet

I guess it depends what you mean by "prophits". Paul wrote most of the new testement of the bible, and he was a roman IIRC. He is generally considered to be a disciple rather than a prophit. I cannot recal he making any prophises (forteling something that is to happen in the furture). He did write about visions he had from god. Was Luke greek?

Of course religions that come from the far east have prophits from there.
prophets are poeple like muhammad and Muses and ..... in islam Jesus if all poeple christians of this site allow me all poeple that in beganing of thier life have not so influnce on poeple to how live
poeples like confesus and budda and others that show a way for life I think maybe can call prophets even belives of native americans before entering eourops can call prophit if a man built them or some known men (I don't have so much information about them) but I heard that aztacs belive in a man or men that taught poeple in past and said to poeple that he or they will come back some day

these men who I call them prophets must be live before ronessance (modern age)

Sorry PersianBoy lost what you said their do you mean that Jesus is prophet in Islam and that he has not influenced your life as a young man, or he has not influenced many people on this site in their young lives? Both could be true but I couldn't quite grasp the meaning from your text. Congratulations though, that's the first time I've had cause to ask about your English, the rest of the thread has been pretty clear.

You are a Muslim then? I guess, rather than a follower of the other religions?

EDIT: OK I get it with the edit never mind.

Cypher from ...And Oceans is my favorite metal album. It's actually industrial metal, not death metal, but it's close enough.

This page has two of ...And Oceans's mp3s at the top of the page.
http://www.themetallist.com/download_mp3_eng.html

This one is by far their best song: "Aphelion: Light Evanescence: Into Extinction".

You can listen to other songs from other bands here:

The mp3s above are all legal. The ...And Oceans mp3s are released from their record company.
I will hear it and say my openion

Death metal sucks and I'm a metal head. I've seen Iranian music videos at a local cafe and the music was basically generic pop music with an Iranian theme of course. Relatively boring but I don't like western pop music either. Cute women though which regardless of region of the world you live in pretty people will always be on TV.

how can say like others I agree in a smilie with flag on its hands

@ PersianBoy

You haven't answered my previous questions . I'll re-iterate them here for your benefit ( maybe you missed them due to them being on the last page ) .

Forgive me if my questions seem offensive or if they strike a raw nerve , but having been given such a chance to talk to an Iranian , I cannot pass it up .

1) As an Iranian , how do you consider your pre-Islamic past ? Is it to be cherished as a part of your historic identity , or is it to be consigned to the time of Jahilya , of ignorance ? How do you preceive your pre-Islamic past ?

2) How should Iran today deal with the ruins which predate Islamic culture ? Should it neglect them and try to destroy them , as Khomeini did ? Or should it try to preserve them as part of Iran's historical heritage ? Or should it hand the past over to the UN ?

3) Do you feel that Shia Islam is a revolt against the Arab conquerors of Persia ? Do other Iranians feel an element of revolt against the Arab conquerors in their religion ?

4) Do you feel that Iran is yet to overcome the feeling of defeat which came upon it when Zoorastrial Persia was humbled by the Islamic Arabs ? Do you feel that such a feeling of defeat exists ?

5) Is it trying to overcome this feeling of defeat by embracing its own form of Islam , which may itself be a revolt , more closely ? What is the trend in the youth of Iran now - towards more fanaticism , or more liberalism ?

6) What are your feelings towards the Parsees - the last remaining Zoorastrians , the original inhabitants of Persia who made it great , and who were finally driven out of Iran because of persecution by Islamic authorities ( who came to India ) ? If they wanted to return to Iran , how would Iranians treat them - as people who are returning , after a long time , to their ancestral home - or as another people to be converted , after whose conversion the Islamisation of Persia will be complete ?

7)* How do you feel towards other non-Muslims ? Specially the pagans like the Hindus ?

8) What are your feelings towards India ?

* Added later

And I'll add another question :

9)How do you view the Islamic revolution ? Was it constructive or destructive to Iran and Iranian identity ? Was it inclusive of non-Muslims or did it pass them by ?

Where should a western tourist go in Persia? What are the ruins of Persepolis like? Can you see snow-covered mountains from Teheran in the winter?
http://www.iranmiras.org/en_site/bldg/largedisplay.asp?picname=bldg-2723-1.jpg
see this link for a landskip of perspolis ruins and check this site
http://www.iranmiras.org/
for official site of organization of cultural heritage of iran
UNESCO has some recommendation
but if you wanna my openion I say that travel with plane in iran that is cheat relative to other countries
first go to tehran city and see if you can see snows then watch today of iran with so much polution and crowd
then travel to Isfahan city and see islamic building in Isfahan espicially Naghshe Jahan Squre and then travel to Shiraz city and Fars province and see that ruins of anceint persians
I you wanna come to my city Hamadan and see ruins of anceint medes and I promise freely guid you in all of city and can see my home and parents

if you interest traditions of Shi'a travel to Mashhad, Khorasan province and see holy shrine of Imam Reza (you have not permission to see inter of shrine but it is very beautifull)
if you interested in deserts go to Yazd city and meet poeples ways for reserving water in hot desert
if you interset in mountain and sking stay in Tehran city and go to near of it with car to Damavand mountain highest place in iran see this link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Damavand
if you intersted in ethnic go to Lorestan and Char Mahal provinces

if polution allow yes but in most days polution don't allow tehran is in the middle of mountains and nearset sky pist distance from tehran is only 45 minutes way
you need only 45 minutes to go a sky pist in north of Tehran (I mean after passing heavy trafic of Tehran streets but if you wake up early morning never see the trafic and enjoy skying with a land skip of tehran city)
is this enough?

PersianBoy: Hello again my friend. :)

I am sorry that I have not checked into this thread lately. Maybe I will pick up on our previous discussion later, but for now, I wanted to share some other Persian treasures with you, aside from the poetry we mentioned. If you love the old Persian poets, then I am sure you love the art from their poetry too!

This comes with thanks for the verse you shared with me earlier and is taken from that excellent book we both love:

The Shahnameh

7) What are your feelings towards India ?

1) time of glory
great empire of persian and sasanides
Jaheli is only for pre-islamic time of arabs not other muslims and I'm sure as I proud of pre islamic iran, an egyptian be proud of ancient egypt
and we muslims remember Jahelie for this reason to always remember that before Islam in what a condition poeple live and islam what changed caused in them
nobody before islam can imagine that a nation fron arbia capture from india to atlantic
2)no one today and no one in past time of islamic revolution wanna to distory them
in time after islamic revolution some poeple wanna to distory it but Khominie prevent and save them
we have today an organization for cultural heritage and it try to maintain them well but some time money is not enough
no one execpt iran government must be responcible for them
your questions is too much and I have to go its late in Iran
but promise I will answer them tommarow
accept my applozie!

Question, PersianBoy:

Everyone I met in Iran had satillite TV.

Is Turkish based channel CNBC-e easily available?

PersianBoy what I meant was:
Can a non-Arab or other traditionally Muslim ethnic group person become a follower of Islam? For ex. Pretend that George was 100% English & he wanted to become a follower of Islam (Muslim) could he do so?
Also does Iran want to rebuild the Persian Empire?

3) Shi'a Islam is only in pro of Ali husbend of doughter of Muhammad and think he has right to be Khalife after Muhammad
Shi'a stablished in Saudi Arabia and then spread in other places like Iran and If iranians think they can revolt against arab conqurers by accepting Shi'a must of them convet to Shi'a in beganing of Islam in Omavi Time not in 15th century that all arab concourers counqoured by others
in main part of islamic history of iran, iranians are Sunni (I mean most of them but not all of them) and in recent centuries most of them converted to Shi'a
iranians protest agaisnt arab councourer by war and fighting not by stablishing another religion
maybe you know Babak Khorramdin he was 1 of them foughting for years with Khalife in Azarbayjan some where north wesr of iran

4)can say yes espicially when see past persian glory and endless trying of Arabs to rename all of the glory of islamic civilization for themselves such their sheet work for renaming persian gulf to ... gulf or AlKhalij
name of the gulf under the place of Iran in maps was , is and will be PERSIAN GULF
they said Ave Sina is arab althought he borned in some where in midle of asia near tajikistan and died in my city in hamadan
I accept that all of his books are in arabian but when Arabs distory all of the Iranian alphabet (alphabet belongs to Sasanide and preIslam time) and scintific language of Islamic world was arabic like today that is English, so he wrote his books in Arabic
oh I forget your question
by this events Iranians wish Rostam Farrokhzad stand a little before Arabs to prevent them from victory

5) no we have problem with arabs not islam
in islam everybody from every race and sex and nationality is equall (our Imam in Shi'a said) but arabs said because Muhammad was an arab so arabs have some thing better then others
we are opposite of this subject and said everybody is equall in islam
youth poeple like more libralism in majority IMO
but some are in favor of fanticim
reffer to past posts about Fundamentalist and modernist
I think when youth poeple reach power more freedom allowed by continuing this situation but if US attack Iran may some modernist allow to do what they wish but this caused number of fundamentalist grow like in Iraq and Afghanistan (thier number is now about 5 to 10 percent of poeple) and I don't know what will happen then

6) false they are not ONLY REMAINING Zoorastrian
in iran we have to many Zoorastrians in Yazd
better you befor asking your questions read some more of this thread
i answered this question

7) a large and great country in east of Iran, we had wars before (I mean in ancient time) and now they making wonderfull films (this is not my openion but many poeple in iran really love Baliwood film especially females) but in wonder how very rich poeple and very poor poeple both live in near of each other
how a rich man could allow a human live in very bad economic position and even die but rich poeple don't help him

IMO if Islam don't inter Iran poeple live like today india
before islam we have social class too, this openion do not favour in Iran and evevn if you said this openion to them they protest and hate this openion (similarity of today India and pre Islam time of Iran if countinued to today)

Hi persianboy,
You have stated that everyone is equal in Islam. How do you view the people outside of Islam, are they equal as well? Do you belive that people who do not belong to the umma should have second class status in dar al-Islam Iran?
