Some of the stories are just drawn-out "sob" stories about 1 person or family's hardships, kinda like watching one of those Save The Children commercials. Some stories do it more than others.

Actually "humanitarian" is the wrong term. I think they're called "human interest" stories.

I did see a very good human interest story on Iran though that wasn't one of those "sob" stories. It was about the young people and how they're defying the cultural norms, especially in the cities, but having a tougher time in the rural areas where the morality police enforce archaic laws.
