ATEN - Game Thread

The Solan Republic is willing to offer the Tet Corporation full loaning rights with the National Bank of Sol. That is, you can loan from them up to 100% of their savings as if you were the Solan Government itself, and the Solan Republic will subsidize the interest on such a loan by paying 4% of the interest on such a loan, meaning the Tet corporation would only have to pay 1% interest.

The Tet corporation shall also be making its home in one of the strongest world powers around the globe. With the Liberum Solis and the Sol military being among the finest military forces on the planet, they will have no fear of invasion or war disrupting their activities. We may also add that we are the only nuclear power on earth, so any attack on us would be severely punished, leading one to think that such an attack is extremely unlikely.

Sol will also pledge to invest 50 into education a turn at minimum in order to continually increase the demand for tertiary goods within our nation, keeping your profits up.

We will also give the Tet corporation a small island off Greece in order to perform whatever research and development they may need done. With out superior navy patrolling, it will be more secure than anywhere else in the world.

Throwing out that Sone's company holds extra value in his ability to bump up your Tertiary production by 1 for every branch he places. Being on his good side would pay dividends.

To: Khuzestan, Azerbaijan, Dahistan, Batra, Pakistan, Pamir
CC: Any other nation interested

Orostratia proposes a full scale alliance in the interest of protecting our borders, trade, and sovereignty from the terrors of those other nations who seek to see us fall.

The Indian Ocean Treaty Organization (IOTO) would have the following conditions -

A council of nations will meet every year to elect one leader nation, to maintain and enforce laws and ordinances of IOTO.

Every council nation will have 1 vote with which they can use to vote on issues, such as join declarations of war, trade embargoes, relief assistance, etc.

Every member nation will lower trade restrictions with each other to 1.5.

New members require a 2/3 yea vote to join.

Noncompliant members to the Council's will can and will be immediately ejected.

This offer is extended to any and all nations on the Indian Ocean or in Central Asia interested in maintaining national sovereignty.

Azerbaijan, Dahistan, Baktra and Pakistan would be open to this agreement, seeking closer ties with Orostratia as well as more security.

Khuzestan will join provided Sumeria joins as well, seeking to avoid alienating either of its neighbors.

Pamir must decline at present, but will consider the offer for the future.

Sol wishes to announce the signing of an NAP with Korea as well as the wish of Sol to join this alliance begun by Orostratia.

In addition, Sol wishes to extend summits to the following nations this year: Archangel, Turkey, Albania, Cree, Sweden, Confederate Union of America, and Norway.

We in fact wish a joint summit with all 8 of these nations to be invited. They will be there to discuss a Solan proposal Liberum Solis. This will be a full alliance led by the Solan Republic. The alliance will take no offensive action unless an outside injustice is perceived and every member of the alliance is fully committed to engaging in war, and even then war is discouraged. Primarily, this is a defensive alliance that wishes to promote economic prosperity among its members by encouraging free trade and investment among its members by raising the level of free trade to a mandatory 1.5 between members, with an optional 2.0 offered by the Solan Republic to whomever wishes to take advantage of the possibilities offered by virtually no barriers on free trade between the countries.

Archangel accepts the free trade and alliance wholeheartedly, feeling ties to the motherland are always a good thing.

Norway and Sweden can support this motion for the good of Scandinavian peace.

Albania can accept this alliance, fondly remembering how the Solans had helped turn back the Bulgarian dogs!

The Cree must respectfully decline at this moment.

The CUA accepts the full agreement with Sol, being surrounded by potential enemies.

Then let the nations of Azerbaijan, Dahistan, Sol, Baktra, Pakistan, Khuzestan, Sumeria, and Orostratia be the founding members of the Indian Ocean Treaty Organization! Let each nation ratify the Constitution of the IOTO, please, and we can move on.

Indian Ocean Treaty Organization Constitution said:
Let it be known that all signatories of this document are protected by the might and fury of all the other signatories of it; that we are to stand together, economically, politically, and militarily, against common threats and protect the sovereignty, borders, and interests of other members. All organizations must have a framework, however strong their bond, or else they are doomed to failure:

  • Once a year, IOTO will gather together in a summit, where delegates from each nation will cast a vote to elect a Chancellor, who will oversee the proceedings of that year and enforce the will of the Council.
  • The Chamber of Nations, as the legislative branch shall be thus labelled, will include one delegate from each nation, with the power to cast one vote. The Chamber of Nations has the ability to sign declarations of war, trade embargoes, order military action against hostile nations, raise or lower trade barriers with foreign or domestic powers, and any other law that is deemed necessary to ensure the survival and function of the Indian Ocean Treaty Organization.
  • The Chancellor shall be elected annually, and he shall have the power to veto laws passed by the Chamber of Nations - overulable by a 2/3 vote - and exists to enforce the will of the Chamber.
  • Resolutions passed by the Chamber of Nations, as long as they follow the criteria of laws the Chamber is allowed to pass, are binding to all nations that are signatories of the Indian Ocean Treaty Organization.
  • New members of the Indian Ocean Treaty Organization must not have any other prior alliance or agreement that would interfere with the will of IOTO, must not be involved in any wars, and must receive a 2/3 majority vote in the Chamber and approval of the Chancellor to be admitted into IOTO.
  • To disbar a member from IOTO, that nation must receive a 2/3 majority vote in the Chamber and have the disbarment be approved by the Chancellor.

Agreed.

Ryker Shipping

You give us the materials, we give you the goods!

Specializing in secondary materials, we turn raw materials into manufactured goods, then ship it across the globe.

The Archonate of Russia would like to express an interest in joining the Indian Ocean Treaty Organization.

Sol welcomes Ryker Shipping and their 7 assets and 10 shares to the Solan Republic.

We also ratify the IOTO constitution and sign an NAP between Liberum Solis and the IOTO pending the election of the IOTO chancellor.

CFC ate my post. Need to clarify.

1. We are opening up shop in the Solan Republic and basing six assets there.

2. We are selling 24 shares to Russia for $8/share ($192 in total) and 25 shares to the Solan Republic for $8.40/share ($210 total) Three assets go to the SoL, another three to Russia.

3. We are taking a loan out from Orostratia for $100 at 10% interest to be paid out over two years.

The application will be brought before the Chamber.

For now, due to some problems in the contract with Sol, we are witholding officially announcing our alignment with them, pending negotiation.

We have 39 shares for sale at $8 a share. 10 more shares will most likely be appearing soon.

Confirming Arrow's signup.

In the real world, the value of a share is entirely based on speculation of whether or not the company will go up or down.

So the case is here. Pay what the IPO asks if you wish.

The Papal States offers Fortschritte a mutual defensive pact, acknowledging the common concern of both nations with combatting the scourge of sorcery.

Your nations represent the august patrimony of Christian tradition and civilisation, and share a common understanding of the threat sorcery poses to the just worship of God, and to the wellbeing of men. To this end we would propose a congress amongst our nations aimed at establishing a common concord between us, that we may collectively stand united against the novel threats emerging in our time, and proceed into a brighter future under the sun of righteousness. We would likewise as a testament to our goodwill and to our fervent desire in Christ that unity may be achieved amongst the Christian states of Europe, propose a non-aggression pact, free trade, and a common defensive pact where the defence of all is collectively assured against the threats posed by those who reject true religion and have succumbed to the temptation of demons.

OOC: Amazonian are here and HOLY STAT SHEETS BATMAN!!!

I'm a pretty major math nerd so I'll probably have an in depth look once I've got some more time, but wow that is crazy complicated. Is there any chance you could do an influence map, ala MPIV? Right now I'm not entirely sure who my allies/clients are. Actually, would it be possible to have a list of nations who really like me/are clients of me? I would really appreciate it. :)

Also, I would really appreciate it if you could change the name of the Amazonian Bank to the Royal Amazonian Bank? I might like to change the name of the corporation as well, but firstly I want to know, what does each of the Resources mean and what do t they do? Organics, Minerals and Energy are pretty self explanatory, but I am not clear on what the effects or having more of them does. And I have no idea what Secondary and Tertiary resources are, let alone what they do. I would appreciate some clarification. :)

Final question: What happens when multiple Nations try and buy out the rest of the stock in a corporation? Does the two nations get half the stock each or...? And is there any limit/downside of having branches?

Also, I'm going to lower trade with the Aztecs, Cherfue, Fortschritte and the Papal States. The first two is because I am in a full on Cold War with those two. The others is because their anti-magic stuff literally gives my people super cancer, which obviously discourages trade. I'm not sure by how much I will lower it, that will come later once I've found my feet a little.

Tani, do you not understand how a United Arab Republic works?

I'll say orders lock in about 72 hours.

You are limited to seven NPC contacts this turn. That is definitely more than seven. :p

When you've chosen which of the seven NPCs you desire to get in touch with, I can get back to you with responses. :)

I'll probably do one at some point once the spheres of influence become clearly established.

For now there's the relationship rating, which is on a scale of 0-100. A rule of thumb is that being below 50 is not very friendly, while being above 50 is friendly. A state in the 80s and 90s is very in your pocket indeed. This isn't set in stone but think of it like this:

0-20: May or may not want to blow you up. Ex. Iran and Israel
21-40: Often tense, but not usually hostile. Ex. Russia and America
41-60: Neutral.
61-80: Generally friendly. Ex. France and America
81-100: Very friendly. Ex. America and Britain

Done.

More organics = more population growth; increased demand for energy
More minerals = more demand for secondary goods and energy; partially useful for military maintenance
More energy = lower costs for your infrastructure and military; increases demand for secondary
More secondary = better supplied military, increased demand for energy, minerals and organics.
More tertiary = Increased demand for everything

Secondary is a codeword for manufacturing, and tertiary for services, generally.

Ultimately you'd want all of these in abundance, as what you don't produce at home must be imported, reducing your total economic size.

Final question: What happens when multiple Nations try and buy out the rest of the stock in a corporation? Does the two nations get half the stock each or...? And is there any limit/downside of having branches?

It is assumed there were price hikes in between the purchases and so, each nation will get a slice of the shares proportionate to what they put up.

Branches add an extra unit of production to your economy in their chosen field. If the branch closes, that unit will be removed. For the most part they are beneficial to have, as it's free growth each turn; the extra price one pays for shares may well be worth it.

Tani, do you not understand how a United Arab Republic works?

Dissolving? :mischief:

You can still make your orders jointly, the border is just there for easy use in the event this union doesn't work out. :p

Where does funding come in? And is there a limit for the amount of branches a corporation can have? Also, I would like to change my corporation name to Royal Amazonian Industries.

Where does funding come in?

Funding helps with the relationship. Not giving specific numbers. :p

And is there a limit for the amount of branches a corporation can have?

No more than real world businesses have a limit on branches they can have.

What ways are available to increase resource production (other than opening corporate branches and imports)?

Oh I'm sorry, I thought that as the player of God's vicar I got double the contacts, 7 from the temporal kingdom of the Pope and 7 from the Holy See :p

But if you insist on your stingy telegram quota, I have edited my regional correspondence quote to incorporate only seven NPC's.

Congo Basin Regional Summit

Invitees: Fang, Ngala, Bemba, Lunda, Chokwe, Kimbundu
Main topic: Establishment of Congo Basin League
Side discussions: Open negotiations with Ngala regarding purchase of energy by the City of Reason.

Communique to Somalia
The nations of Uganda, Azande and Sukumba have not been invited to the summit to prevent the interests of the City of Reason and Somalia coming into conflict in the region. We request you follow this example and not attempt to establish a sphere of influence over the aforementioned states.
