AVS:1 OCC for beginners, my first hosted SG :)

If upon reserching philosophy we then take MM as free tech. We can then rush the lighthouse and build the mausoleum from scratch. The economy is what has me worried. A market will help a lot when we get to currency. A beeline to mapmaking and dromons would be nice. If we get contact first it will lower our tech costs while keeping the others at higher tech cost.

Yes, with the Pyramids prebuild we can probably build the Mausoleum as soon as Philosophy comes in. Then rush the Lighthouse. Hopefully that'll kill any cascades so we won't have much competition for the Great Library.

I don't know what it is about the Byzantines, but so far in my games they seem to get more SGLs than anyone else, even other Scientific civs. Okay, so it's random, but they still get a lot of them.

We should just build a decent enough military and destroy anyone who sets foot on our island. We shouldn't put ourselves at much risk doing that since the AI is notoriously bad at intercontinental warfare. They're only good on land.

Earlier Genghis said that reputation in OCC is critical because you production is a difficult match to developped civilizations. Risk is not only waging war but also that trading could be limited by these wars and you will need this in the future.

Waging war won't hurt our reputation (unless we declare when we have a deal going, but we're smart enough not to do that). The AIs' attitudes may go down, but it's pretty hard to keep them happy with you anyway.

So, okay, we can't fight everyone who touches our continent, I'll admit. We should still delay letting the AI settle on it for as long as possible, though.

I know he posts. He is really involved with the democracy game. On war, I am for it as long as it is declared honorably. Once we get the Lighthouse and then meet all the civs and locations we should be able to get some alliances to keep the major powers tied up in battle.

Checking in, Sorry. I was busy with the Demogame and College :). Ill post the save tommorow.

I Got it

PS, Please PM me when my turn is up, Thanks :).

College comes first

Arg! With homework and all Im afraid I am going to have to pass this game untill I get them done. :(

If you would join our game instead of worrying about our president in other forums I, for one, would greatly appreciate it.

So I guess it goes back around to Andvruss again.

Let's get this game rolling. It's gone so well so far, and I want to see how it goes from here.

Here! Here! WE should have a couple wonders by now. I've already finished a personal OCC, taken my set of turns in 2 different SG's and am halfway through GOTM28 since this game started. I also work 60 hours a week. This set of turns can not take more than maybe 1 hour, 2 at the extreme. Lets move this along!

Well, I have managed to queese in an hour of this SG :).

Preturn: Ive checked with my advisors to see what is happening with our situation

The Save

I thought after Philosophy we we're taking Map Making for our free tech  for Glighthouse that we agreed was a PRIORITY. Then I thought we we're going for Lit for GLib  Now we may miss out on them and we're stuck with 15 turns of not important ironworking. WTH! The plan was to get the communications monopoly with GLight Civ General. What are we going to do with Ironworking? I dont think we even have a hill, let alone a mountain, in our city radius. Are we gearing up for a military victory? These techs will come in trade. You bypassed 2 3rd level techs for 2 2nd level techs that will not be worth as much in trade value. Also, we would like to get some Dromons into play soon.
Ouch!

EDIT : Perhaps I have been a bit brusque with my post turn analysis. Please enlighten the team as to your decision making process so we can once again all be on the same page as to our goals.

Pre-turn. Constantiople is currently building the Pyramids, due in 17. The effects of it won't be too helpful to us, so I switch tot eh Oracle, due in 7.

Also, we have a iron a couple of tiles from Constantiople. If needed, we could use our native worker to make a colony. (Colonies dont require upkeep, right?)

OCC – 650BC 15 turns to play

Pre-turn – All looks well except for lack of Mapmaking and literature. We have a worker in the pile of slaves costing us cash and I think he’ll get merged after he’s done mining. It’s full speed 100% to Mmaking in 12 losing –4gpt. We have 31g. Still no contacts. The SGL in town is the first one I’ve seen and he is thinking about the Lighthouse. The library with Lit is usually not researched until later. Need contacts!

610BC- Sending Curraghs N and E.

590-
570- E Curragh makes it! N curragh is heading to top of island.
550- We meet the Shaka. He is up the wheel, poly and warrior. We are up writing. No trades. Lets see who else is around.
530-
510- Curragh begins journey N from our continent. Zulu curraugh begins circumnavigation and spots another border.
490- Currugh drowns
470-
450- The Maya give us wheel and 1g for alphabet.
430 Mmaking comes in. Literature set. MoM in 3. That will fix happiness a bit. It will also spark a GA.
410
390
370 – Mayans complete Temple of Artemis. French get the pyramids. MoM is due next turn and I’m thinking about swapping over to Lighthouse to avoid early GA. Group input before I take last turn. Light house would be due in 10. If we take MoM, I can then use Geminus for Lighthouse. Then build our UU while we wait for Lit to come in. The later tact will leave us with happiness issues and 1 less wonder at 2cpt. My vote is for early GA, take care of happiness, use SGL for Lighthouse and head to GL in GA. I’ll finish last turn tonight after I get some group input.
