Based on this poll, Creative is the best trait to start with in a leader by a wide margin.

So, who is the best leader with the Creative trait?

And describe why?
  • Other trait
  • Unique Unit
  • Unique Building
  • Starting techs

Hatshepsut - war chariots are really good, and Egypt starts with the wheel and farming, so Animal Husbandry is only 1 tech away.

Spiritual is very handy as well.

UB not so good for Hats, it's OK for Rams though.

Zara is good as well.

Cathy very versatile.

Going into this, I've been playing Suryavarman because of his Expansive trait, but I don't like his UU or UB. That's why I'd like to hear what others think.

...Looking at just the early-game, of course. Not overall.

I voted Hatty:
-Personally I think Spiritual is kind of meh, but it can be a strong trait.
-War Chariot is one of the best UUs
-Obelisk can be very good in some situations
-Best starting techs

Wilem is #1

Other Trait - Yes... Financial works in great tandem with his UB.
UB - Yes... One of the better mid-late game UB. Makes every Water tile better. Makes small costal cities more flexible. Allows landlocked cities not on rivertiles to build its special levee.
UU -So So...

One of the favorite combo's is the Moai/Heroic NW's and UB for a two Hammer water powerhouse.

This.

Hatty wins with a top notch rush UU and some diplo abuse potential.

A lot of people are picking willem, for some combination of FIN and an extra-average UB. I thought this subforum knew better :p. WvO is good though I don't see how people can put him ahead of Zara (pretty much better everything but UB), Gilgamesh (better UU, better UB), Cathy (Better UU) or Hatty...or at least by any considerable margin. Kublai without horse is bottom-tier here, but Kublai with horse is one of the best on the list so :/.

Willem for Financial. Though I would excuse anyone who voted Gilgamesh or Hatty on the basis of the UU. Pericles suffers from the terrible Greek starting techs (though I do like him better than Alex).

Pericles gets cheap libraries and cheap universities though. So it's really easy to whip the infra in place to get 6 universities for Oxford. His starting techs do suck though.

Zara for me, just because I prefer Ramesses to Hatty (slightly twisted logic, admittedly..). I'm just not that big of a Creative fan. :dunno:

Hatty's the best, although Cathy might be my favorite to play. No one's better at blocking land. I'm slightly disappointed to see Willem at 60% of the vote. He's pretty good, but maybe 3rd best on this list.

It's easily Hatty. In certain settings, war chariots are so good, they don't even need traits to make a great leader (but SPI+CRE rocks).

I voted Pericles, though, as I figured Hatty would get a lot of love anyway. ;)

Pericles:
Fast library > fast GS - academy > fast universities. It's seriously awesome. Starting techs do suck, and the unit is blah. Odeon's not too bad - I usually don't really build Colosseums, but I find it comes at a good time to whip 2 extra :) in many cities.

Hatty by a hair; I'm also a big fan of Zara and Gilgamesh. I'd put Pericles and Sury ahead of Willem.

I don't think Creative is the best trait - but it's one of the best traits early.

Lots of good choices here - Zara (Oromos, Organized); Giggles (Vulture rush and pay for it, pity the poor **** is Protective), Cathy the REX queen.

I'd have to with Hatty. Spiritual is pretty good as well, don't use the UB much. I LOVE the War Chariot! I think it's better than the immortal (remember first strike immunity).

Gilgamesh. UU is an axeman with 6 strength for archers and still doesn't lose in head to head fights with other axes. His UB is a cheap courthouse at priesthood. Who cares about being protective. His uniques kick ass. If he had any other second trait he would be seen as a top tier leader.
