The popular band the Red Hot Chili Peppers has a number of albums, most good, quite a few very good. I would like to know which one is your favorite album and why. What do I mean? I mean overall best; whether by artistic merit, entertainment value, or simply you like the most.

By the Way is my favourite. It has so many good songs on it. I guess I'm more into that style that the style of BSSM, which is one of my least favourites.

BSSM in the only album in history where every single track is friggin' amazing.

They've managed to stay awesome for two+ decades now which is pretty amazing though. BSSM is my favorite though (the first album I ever got [my freind's hot sister made me a tape  ).

I think Under the Bridge is one of its best tracks. I've always liked the lyrics, anyways.

It is most people's fave RHCP track but I never got into it, don't know why. IIRC it was the 2nd single after 'Give It Away' and remember thinking that it was a poor choice and wouldn't ever amount to much. I think it was #1 on the singles chart about 2 weeks later

I much prefer Stadium Arcadium and By The Way to BSSM, and By The Way a bit more than Stadium Arcadium.

The reason I don't like BSSM and prefer the later albums is that RHCP is not good when Anthony Kiedis is rapping rather than singing.

I think the albums after Californication are pretty weak compared to their earlier work.

My favourite is One Hot Minute. It's not that popular, probably because it's not much like their other albums, but it contains really awesome melodies and lyrics.

I have all their main albums - Californication is their tops for me. I prefer the melodic riffs and singing to the party atmosphere and funk that dominates Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

I'm going with Californication slightly ahead of BSSM. As above, I don't like the rapping feel of their earlier vocals. Nostalgia probably plays a role as well.

BSSM is the best by some distance, but I like everything up to Mother's Milk, after which they veered towards middle-of-the-road tedium. Their latest stuff is just plain awful.
