[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

Grave, that did the trick. I think sevopedia is the only thing I need to mess with in Bug Mod. Thanks man. No, not soldier. Marine. Jarhead. Devil Dog. Any of those would be acceptable.

Semper Fi, Marine. :goodjob:

I'm USAF myself. :king:

Hi!

Multiplayer it is possible to play a game. Sole problem , the scores display cannot be seen. How would it be possible to repair it?

You would have to get with the BUG Mod team on that one.

Nice one Grave :goodjob: All the "extra tile radius problems" you picked up and have gone.

Very small bugette with Sumer:- Sickleswordmen only need copper to build (which is fine) but surely they should need Iron Working Tech? I could build them with BW the second my Copper was connected, which made for a very quick dead Persia (oh and then a dead Ottoman, viscious so and sos these Sumerians, or maybe it was down to their leader? )

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0115.JPG

No, Copper was intentional. The reason being... Sumerians had Sickle Swords way back in the early Bronze Age, before "Swordsman" came to being as we know it. So that is why Sumeria gets their Swordsman one tech early, and with Copper instead of Iron.

With patch 1.51 installed i have the same problems: if i use terra2 or perfectworld map in Custom Game , i have an error: empy map and the game is blocked !!, but if i use in custome game "custom continent", for exemple, i don't have any problems.

Hmmm... Interesting. I guess don't use PerfectWorld! It works for me, though. Infact, the last game I played, I used that map script. Unfortunately, with v1.51 I have to start a new game. I'll get those pesky Incans yet!

Great! I just tested it, and I dont get any CTD from building cities :goodjob:

Excellent! Now we know where that mysterious CTD came from, I guess. ;)

Oh man, is this awesome! Cool! Thank you, sir!

:goodjob: :king:

Hey, no problem, man. Glad everybody is having better results (and more FUN) with v1.51.

That's what it's all about! :goodjob:

Hey Grave

You removed +1 culture per religion? I'm playing 1.51v and i spread my religion but don't give +1 culture.

Excellent mode so far, and now for the begging..

Please find a way to include in the future 3 Squars city mod like I used to play with Sevo's Mod and later on with Visa.

It's much more fun on huge maps to have extended city radius, even in it's simple manifestation as with the mods mentioned above.

Many thanks from a modulo 3 guy.

With 1.51 out I had to start a new game. I am playing Egypt with my most favorite of all the queen of elegance Hati. Winds of luck filled my sails and drove me smoothly through one of my best starts ever. Thebes had both corn and wheat in its fat cross. The rest was all forests with many hills. Wonderful early production site. I started on a worker and researched AH hoping to find horses somewhere nearby. While exploring I poped Fishing out of a hut, a Scout from another. Faster exploration and better results from huts Yay!! A little later another Scout and Mysticism. Sure Amon-Ra was really smiling for his beloved daughter. But this is not all yet. AH researched, and behold aren't these horses right in the fat cross of the glorious Thebes!! War Chariots rush no kidding about it.
After a worker, two warrior, here comes a settler. I aimed toward a nice spot on the coast with clam and fish and again horses (they are good for production as well). More importantly it was next to my nearest neighbor Charlemagne. The poor guy had no idea what it about to befall him. He has just built his second city and founded Hinduism there when my Chariots' cranking noise awake him from his rosy dreams. I poped Hunting out of the first city (the holy city). As if I weren't lucky enough so far, Hunting revealed two dear resources in Thebes fat cross. One turn later my chariots took the capital with polytheism in the spoils. Charlemagne is gone but the nice fellow had actually fulfilled a great feat (Researched two techs and founded a religion for me, What a glory!!).

@Grave You should try your hand in an Odyssey game. The excitement it gives you is unmatched. Also, it will help if further tweaking of this speed should be needed. IMHO research costs can be raised a little. Right now it is the same as in Marathon. Still the less time for building workers and for improvements means that research will advance faster. I wouldn't recommend more unit training time because this will defeat the purpose of the speed.

Hmm... no more Mylon’s Expanded City Radius mod? I hope there will be a way to put it back. Even if it causes some game balance problems it is still fine addition for city expansion freaks ;) . I hope it will be back soon in such a fine mod like this.
Is there a way to improve/add civics? I played for a while overlord and I do like idea of more...and more....and mooooor
Sometimes bigger is better.

... i still play 1.5 ... without any CTD so far.... Odyssey game .... it is 1175 AD and life is beautiful (even if too HEALTHy ;) ).

I don't think Religion automatically gave +1 culture ever. You need to have it as your State Religion in order to get bonus culture out of it. Plus without Temples/Cathedrals/Monasteries in the city, a Religion gives nothing (unless it's your State Religion).

I had to remove it because it was giving a very high health rate for forest squares (like +10 per tile), and a few people for some strange reason were getting CTD's with Expanded City Radius added to the SDK.

So I removed it. I'll put it back in once Mylon can fix those two issues (forest health and CTD).

That sounds like one hell of a start!

Unfortunately, I have to start a new game, too. I was having a blast with my last game. Rome vs. Incans... over one stupid iron resource! Our cultural borders kept fluxuating right around this iron resource. One minute, I'd have the iron resources in my borders (which would let me build Leginaries). Then suddenly... WHAM! Cultural borders change, and now the Incans have the iron resource within their cultural borders. So the only option was WAR!!!

I'm happy with the way Civics are now. I don't plan on adding any more categories at this point in time. I don't want to have extra civic categories "just because". They have to serve a distinct purpose. Right now I just don't see a distinct purpose with extra civic categories. I think mine already cover a very broad range of options.

Thread-head, Sea-going bellhop, Brig-chaser, One of the few, the proud, the extremely gullible, Green coated Sailor. ;)

Grave, first big thanks for the mod and it's awesomeness.

Second, in avain's Quot Capita mod he found that Dale's stack attack didn't mix well with Influence driven war. Did you find any problem with this ??

WOW! This looks like a great MOD. Is there really over 575 new units to build? I use to love playing Sevomod for vanilla Civ4. Is this somewhat like it?

I currently have vanilla Civ4 and BtS patched to 3.13. Will I be able to play this mod or do I need Warlords also? I really hope not.

If I do need Warlords is it worth purchasing just to play this mod?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

With or without state religion, don't gives nothing. Or Japonese don't like pray.

But take a look.

575+ FLAVOR units... not units to build. ;)

Really... you shouldn't need Warlords. I put that in there because I use a few unit graphics from Warlords. However, I think they're also included in BtS. Something I didn't put 2+2 together when writing the system requirements. You should be fine without Warlords.

I haven't ran into any issues.

But take a look.

Not all Religions give +1 Culture w/ State Religion anymore. Some give a science boost, some give a gold boost... some even give an espionage boost. Take a look at the Pedia to see what I'm talking about.

So it all really depends on what religion you choose as your State Religion.

Grave: I think you've really hit a good balance this time, and even with me being Mr Picky, I haven't found one single bug however hard I try ;) :goodjob:

Going to try another game...

Keep either getting impossible maps, or conversely ones that virtually play themselves, and I get bored (none of which is your fault in any possible way of course).

And lets hope THIS time, I get some ais that don't all think a giant group hug is the best strategy, roll on Random personalty Julius in a Monty Mask with Praets

I am trying to play the maps you included but they wont work, it stops loading at the Initialization phase of the loading screen.

IS there any issue with this mod if your Civilization directory is not in C:/ ?

My directory is 'F:\Games\Civilization IV\Beyond the Sword\Mods' cos I like to keep my Windows install and games completely seperate. My game CTD with an error message about three quarters of the way through map setup in Custom game mode.

I was told FfH had an issue with not being in the default C:/ dir., but that works fine.

I have my Civ4 installed in a path different from the default as well. I never had any problems with HitM. I think your issue has a different cause. By the way, what error message you get?

@Grave

Is it intended that the Scythian Chariot of Persia DOES recieve tile defense bonus? It is unusual for mounted units to get this bonus. BTW I have been in war with Ahmadi Nigad four times now and his chariots have given me hard time hiding in jungles and forests on hills where my spearmen can't do much against them.

By the way on which personality is Ahmadi's LH based on. The guy acquired Hinduism from me quite early, was pleased with me but then suddenly he DWOed me though I was more powerful than him. He was in war with Alexander two times so far as well. All that in classical era alone.

Its one of the usual Microsoft "beyondthesword.exe has had to close. Sorry for the inconvenience. Would you like to send an error report to Microsoft?" or somethin to that effect.

In fact, for some reason my build version still says 3.02 or whatever and I know the latest patch is 3.13. Whenever i run the patch though, it says 3.13 is already installed. I go ahead and do it anyway but it seems like its extracting to the C:\ drive, because it leaves an 'assets' and 'warlords' folder on my C:\ drive.

Could this be the cause? I dont know why the patch is installin to C:\ when Civ is on the F:\ drive.
