Brandenburg is the charcoal grey nation top center of Germany, Saxony is tan and Bohemia yellow.

Thanks, I figured as much (eventually, after a lot of help and reading the updates thoroughly). I take it the grey wasteland to the west of Brandenburg are miscellaneous German states?

Actually NPCs can more easily be ignored in updates and more players means more work, but more players also means a better game with more interesting stuff going on. So it is good.
