I'm glad you quoted that. You see I said the Austrian navy twice, and mentioned the venetians only who I thought might come to the aid of Austria. They didn't, in fact Spry assured me he had no intention of defending Austria at all. My orders were pretty clear that I was attacking the Austrians, and should only hit the Venetians IF they helped Austria. They clearly didn't so why would I, or my admirals, decide to randomly attack Venice, who showed me no hostile intent. Further more, why did my admirals not go on to attack the Austrian ports once the navy was no longer a factor (since it was non-existent since Austria sold it away).

Can you please give me my ships back and stop making up diplomatic incidents?

If all orders were perfectly clear and I was better at figuring out the unstated nuances of player intent, then every update would perfectly match to what each player expects. But the NES world is not so and arguing intent after the fact is not how I want to spend my time. You can use diplo to make amends with Venice if you feel the need. The loss of ships is the high cost of being king. The update stands.

By allmeans post your stories. Drake sailed all the way around as the English private map shows. For the most part, private maps go "public" in an update after they are first given to the owning player. I would expect that much of what is seen in private today will be seen by all next time.

Upon reviewing all the information available to us, we have managed to ascertain that, indeed, England, with Henry VIII at its helm, broke the treaty they accepted and signed, when they settled the island situated to the northeast of the colony known as Fort Henry.

Also, much like our Spanish brothers, we are appalled that they are aiding people that are very much against the expansion of the Word of God to all of Earth, namely the heretical Muslim kingdom known as Songhai, and the pagan Hindu kingdom of Vijayanagar, knowing perfectly that they could not only use that help, but also selling them weapons, training their soldiers in the weapon use, and, if our information is correct, has also been planning to sell them cannons. All of this was done with the full knowledge that they can - and probably will - use these weapons and training against fellow Christian nations, mostly Portugal, Scotland and Spain. Given that Portugal and Spain are the two nations that are doing the most regarding the expansion of the Word of God in the whole world, the English actions run counter to their supposed objective of helping spread Christianity. We find them and their actions hypocritical in the most great grade, as a few years ago they were complaining because they should be allowed to create and develop colonies in order to expand Christianity, and yet they stifle it everywhere else.

Thus, Portugal has no other option than to present the following ultimatum to the nation of England:
1) England must abandon all of their colonies in the New World. Their unwillingness to follow the treaty they themselves read, signed, accepted and swore to uphold demonstrates that they were acting in bad faith when said signing happened.
2) England must stop all trading of any military-related goods (such as weapons, cannons or ships) with all non-Christian nations. This is being done to prevent their involvement with matters that do not affect them.

All this is to happen before the day January 10th of the year 1526 of our Lord. Otherwise, we shall join our Spanish brothers in calling for King Henry VIII's excommunication. Further non-compliance to this ultimatum shall bring war to England.

Believe us when we tell you that we do not want to go to war with other Christian nation, but England's un-Christian behaviour and treaty-breaking are forcing our hand.

Heed our word, England. It will be the only way you will survive.

It is not to the pleasure of the Serenissima to be worse off by the equivalent of 1600 gold. We will discuss this further, although we have no desire for war over this rather peculiar signalling difficulty. Incidentally, how much navy does that leave you with?

Two people might well be able to keep a secret, but when hundreds of folks a
spread all across a large region are involved, one cannot depend upon it. Think about it. How would you keep new shipbuilding technology secret in 1525? Its similar to mobilizing for war. No real way to keep that a secret. Where you are planning to attack could ambiguous, but not the fact that you are gathering your armies. And don't forget that there are many spy networks looking for changes in what people are doing.

No. Your map was the basis for the posted map. The route of your ships is noted on that map with a bluish line. Your contact that was mentioned in the update is with the bit of color along the southern part of the route.

We would like to extend a congratulation to the English for circling the world though we are forced to condem the English trade of Christian technology with the Muslims and Indians and politely request that this trade be stopped. We emulate the son of God. Do you think that turning the cannons and guns of Christ upon the heathen and infidel shows them the love of Jesus? Does it serve God as we were taught?

They have attacked North African Muslims who have been forced to retreat to Egypt. Have the Egyptians embraced Christianity? The answer is no.
