From King Henry VIII, Ruler of England,
To the rulers of Portugal and Spain
We have not broken the treaty. (i didn't order the expansion to that small island in my orders)
If english colonists have developed homes there it is not with the blessing and guidance of England's monarch.
(Can't do much about it boys- I never did order it).
As for bringing Christ's message to the heathens,
The actions of the English crown are based on our reading of the bible directly. Jesus Christ, son of God, who's example we must all emulate to follow was very specific in regards to how we must treat strangers,
Matthew 22:35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
We emulate the son of God. Do you think that turning the cannons and guns of Christ upon the heathen and infidel shows them the love of Jesus? Does it serve God as we were taught?
- Let us examine the evidence,
- The Spanish have ignored the word of Jesus, acting in the old way without thinking of whether their actions serve Christ or not. They have attacked North African Muslims who have been forced to retreat to Egypt. Have the Egyptians embraced Christianity? The answer is no. It has however enriched Spanish coffers and made them rich.
- The Spanish have attacked the Muslims of Malacca, forcing them to trade with them on unfavorable terms. Have the Malaccans embraced Jesus? No again. But it has made the Spanish rich.
- The Spanish were ordered by the Pope himself in the treaty outlined to Christian powers to spread the Christian message to the new world but they have not. They have turned again to war and violence, attacking the natives there and treating them not as fellow men but as their personal treasury. They are not interested in spreading the word of Jesus but of enriching their treasury. Again.
- Let us consider the actions of the English,
- Whenever, and wherever we could, we have treated the natives of distant lands as Jesus taught us to. To love them as our neighbor. To treat them with the respect and dignity Jesus would entreat us to.
- Our mission to the natives of the Equatorial isles of the New World have been particularly successful. We are growing the flock of Christiandom everyday.
- And please, consider our actions in Songhai. Our actions there, our treatment of the natives as equals worthy of our respect, have brought Jesus to their very heart. Have we not just now completed a grand Church, a mighty edifice worthy of the cathedrals of Europe in the very heart of their lands? Do you think this would have been possible if we had turned our guns and cannon upon them?
No. Upon study of the evidence, it is us who does the work of Jesus. The Spaniards and their allies are acting without thinking, emulating their misguided ancestors without considering the consequences of their actions. The bible is available to all nations; we entreat you to read it for yourselves and to let it guide you.
And so, despite your efforts to force war between us, I entreat to you consider the words of the son of God,
Matthew 5:39: "But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
You seem intent on causing war between us and to use the Pope like some misguided ponzi, to force him to give the order that will let you serve your heretical greed without consideration of Jesus's message.
I am not worried. The world sees your false words for what they are. We are blessed and favored by God; we know this is true for otherwise how could Francis Drake have been successful in circumnavigation?
To the King of Denmark and the Kalmar Union
From King Henry VIII,
We entreat you to think of matters for yourself, to consider the words of Jesus, and not to just accept the platitudes of the Spanish and their allies. Should the servants of God of Europe send cannon and guns to Canton and the world, or should they send missionaries? Read the bible and you will know the answer. Do not let yourself be guided by the ignorance of the 'dark ages'. This is a new time, an 'enlightenment' and we must question the old ways and act according to the will of god, not men corrupted by greed and weakened by ignorance.
We know you will see the truth of our words.
