Within the realm of impossibility
I am playing on a Boreal map type with Catherine as Holy Rome and. I was wondering what people here would recommend for strategies. The world is mostly tundra and plains with little to no grassland tiles. There is an abundance of deer, as in three deer resources per city would be average, and five deer per city is not unusual, lots of forests and a smattering of other resources.

So far I was thinking that I have production from hills, and most of my commerce will likely have to come from gem and silver resources, which there are still plenty of on this map. This might also be a good map to run lots of specialists on, writing is definitely a priority here. Possibly I should build the GW but perhaps the Oracle would be more useful? I want to build them both but even on noble, the level I play on, getting the GW usually means sacrificing the Oracle. Strategic resources, while not impossible to come by, are limited as in there is a high probability of having at least one of the early three but all three together might not be near by. Code of Laws and currency are still important, but bureaucracy doesn't seem like such a priority anymore, unless I have a lot of gems in my Capitol, or I use my food surplus to work low food tiles with cottages. Writing seems important for scientists and slavery is also especially more powerful in a scenario like this.

Boreal is made for Conqest with all those chops. The best for the map are keshiks

Wonders: GLH, Mids,

GLH? ...Mids definitely and stone not to hard to find.

On lower levels, Monty is quite good on this map

I like mids and specialists on this map type.Tundra forests which arnt next to a water source are precious, once there chopped you end up with a 1 food tile you can do nothing with, unless your going for an early conquest victory,I like to leave these forests for lumbermills, and forest preserves in a national park city.I chop down forests on hills though for mines, then windmills.I use roads sparingly so forests have a chance of regrowth-don't road over blank tundra for example.

These maps are challenging for a space victory,Im still trying to get the balance right my self, but a beeline towards replaceable parts and environmentalism seems an interesting way to go.I tried this in an old NC alexander game.Built the GW,mids, hardly chopped any forests, but then got dogpiled and my ass kicked by my neighbours.

Im going to try again though,a very different kind of map which needs some carefull thought on how to set up the economy. If you can get the GW and MIDS consider using an espionage economy early to mid game.
