Born of Fire: Discussion and Development Thread

I've posted what I intend to revise on the map in its thread. If it's okay I'd like to keep discussion and critique of the map itself there (it may get extremely nitpicky, which is ok, but I'd like to leave it there, not here). Every one is invited to post any comments or suggestions for the map, and I'm open-minded if stubborn; RedAlert, of course, will have a major influence on what I do with it.

It's the labels.txt you need to find :) (Mesoamerica uses the one from the main game, so you need to copy it accross)

Here is the text files with the traits already named. Now you'll also need to rename them in the Civilopedia, although for the most part, that can be done as you go along :)

I new I had to be missing something.
Thanks, Virote!! :goodjob:

That sounds like a good plan, Blue. I don't have anything to suggest at the moment, but I'd like to say I think this is going to be one heckuva good map when it's done. :)

Nice to see more fine quality goods baking n the oven. Thanks for pushing on for all of us mod enthusesists,

Mybe on day all the orginal conquests scenarios will be built up and I'll download them all to replace the old ones

:bump:

I've been working on the tech tree lately, and the next order of business is the tech icons. A long time ago I had actually done most of them, but they are long gone now (but that's ok, as they were pretty sad anyway).
I'll be posting a checklist of all the techs with a short description of each, and see if I can't find suitable icons on the forum. The rest will need to be made, and I can do some, but given my obvious lack of tech icon making skills, it would be great if anyone would like to chip in ;).

I'll help you any way I can with the MEso mod. I can make units, Leaderhead etc.

That's excellent, Sword. I've seen your Toltec and Zapotec and will probably use both :)
I still need to decide on leaders for all the civs though.
As for the units, I'll update one of the opening posts with concept art sometime soon.

Map is still coming along slowly; and if you post a list of the techs you need I'll happily look for suitable Images to CnP.

Thanks, Blue Monkey! I took a look at your techs, all of them are amazing, and each one of them is quite unique. I posted a list of needed tech icons (most of the techs at the moment) in post #3.
Take as much time as you need with the map, there's no hurry.

Yeah Blue is pretty talented when it comes to graphics for techs, check out the clinical immortal one he made for my on hiatus future mod.(I'll be taking that out of the refrigarator soon)...

That's great. I was wondering when you would resume your future mod. I'll help in any way I can.

Are these acceptable?

Both are perfect! I think I'll use Solar Astronomy for Religious Ceremony (first era) instead of Astronomical Observation (since it's peruvian and not mexican). Masonry works just fine as masonry, though.

For some reason I missed those techs when I was browsing your thread last night :dunno:

I've been thinking alot about civ traits again. I finally managed to pin down some for each civ, but nothing is final yet.

[pre]Aztecs Religious and Warlike
Chachapoya Artistic and Productive
Chavin Commercial and Innovative
Chimor Commercial and Religious
Huari Productive and Structured
Huastecs Artistic and Commercial
Maya Innovative and Religious
Inca Structured and Warlike
Mapuche Artistic and Warlike
Mixtecs Religious and Structured
Moche Artistic and Religious
Nazca Agricultural and Innovative
Olmecs Artistic and Innovative
Tarascans Productive and Warlike
Teotihuacan Agricultural and Productive
Tiwanaku Agricultural and Structured
Toltecs Commercial and Structured
Zapotecs Agricultural and Artistic[/pre]
So, questions? Comments? Changes?

My original puropse in giving the Mapuche the Warlike trait was for the military benefit, as they were able to hold off the Incan and Spanish empires for hundreds of years, even with the odds against them. I do agree though that "warlike" doesn't really fit them, but it's just a name.

Artistic and Structured doesn't seem bad for the Mapuche, though, and giving them that, I'll also switch the Huari to Religious and Productive, and the Chimor to Commercial and Warlike, so as to even things out.
Sound good? :)

Great, guys! It looks like that's settled then.

By the way what are we going to do for the second era of the mesoamerican cities?

I actually have some half-completed graphics for that purpose... somewhere. I'll post a preview next week or so.
Btw, would you be interested in doing the era three andean city graphics - something to compliment the mesoamerican ones you did for that era?

Oh, and I'll post the needed units either tonight or tomorrow...

The 2nd era graphics I do would give you a good idea and I could probably find some pics as well.
But don't feel pressured or anything, I can always do the cities if you don't. What I can't do are units and leaderheads. :)
