Bug reports and technical issues

I still have no idea what happened there to you, but great to hear the problem is solved :)

This save consistently crashes and I seem to get no python exception popups (you have to enable it using the config file in the main BtS folder, right?). Do you have any clue what might be wrong?
EDIT: turns out the Mongols had no palace, which was causing the game to crash.

I got TXT_KEY_CIV_MOORS_DESC_DEMOCRATIC as Moors' civ name, looks like that string is missing.

Btw are there entries about apostolic palace and shrines in civilopedia? (couldn't find them...)

Add this in DynamicNames_Moors.xml

<TEXT>
<Tag>TXT_KEY_CIV_MOORS_DESC_DEMOCRATIC</Tag>
<English>Whatever Name you Want</English>
</TEXT>
(The indents being the tab key. Make the formatting match what's already there.)

If you can find TXT_KEY_CIV_MOORS_DESC_DEMOCRATIC in DynamicCivs.py, then you're golden and this should work.

Could be that I've excluded them when I removed non-wonders from the wonders tab.

Around the year 1200 or so, I receive the following error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error

Program: C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's C...

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application support team for more information.

This happens no matter which civilization I play as, and I'm not running any of this mod's add-ons (VD, Blue Marble, Soundtrack Module) nor have I installed any other modcomps.
I've also verified that I'm running the 3.19 patch of Civilization IV: BtS. Should I try downloading a new copy of DoC and reinstalling it?

Does it happen in every game, or just in one particular?

Because a crash in 1200 in every game definitely means something's wrong, and you should try a redownload.

It does indeed occur every game. I'll try redownloading it, thanks. Btw, how's the debugging for the K-mod merger coming along?

I need karadoc's help for some stuff (just messing around with the AI logic doesn't seem like a good idea), but he's currently inactive so I have to put everything on hold until he has time for me.

But I have some other RFC related work lying around so my time isn't going to waste :mischief:

Well, redownloading DoC and installing it again seem to have done something. The error message I now get is:

FATAL_ERROR

Memory allocation failure - exiting program
Reason: bad allocation.

This was a Civilization error message as opposed to a Windows error message, and it occurred just as I was about to encounter Portugal for the first time in a diplomatic encounter. Is it possible that having contact with too many civilizations causes my game to crash?

I don't think so.

But are you using the VD module perhaps? Seems like your memory can't handle it ... I don't know exactly how Civ manages memory but it could be that as soon as too many different units (from different civs) are in the game, your RAM can't handle it anymore.

That means that you don't have enough memory to deal with the nasty memory leak in Civ4. The game, apparently, couldn't handle the animated Joao LH. I sometimes encounter a memory allocation failure late-game when contacting Baibars - his LH seems to strain the Civ4 code too much.

I actually don't have VD installed, but my computer is sort of old. Should I try running Civilization with a lower graphics setting?

Ok, I turned the graphics down to their absolute minimum, which seemed to have addressed the issue. Unfortunately, I am now back at square one. I now have the game CTD around 1700 (a few turns into a 600 AD Prussia campaign) and receive the Windows Visual C++ Runtime Library error message again. If any one has any idea what might be causing this, please let me know, because the tried and true trick of uninstalling and redownloading the mod hasn't worked for me this time around.

Are you playing on a laptop and if so, are you already running on High Performance in the Power Options?

Also, can you give us some specs? Like RAM?

I am indeed using a laptop, and I actually hadn't noticed it, but I was using the power saver option at the time despite it being plugged in. I've put it on high performance now, I'll try firing up a game again some time and see what happens.

Specs:
Processor: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz 1.67 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 2.00 GB
System type: 32-bit Operating System

That's your problem.

I have 1GB RAM and have only occasional late-game MAF.
