Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Both are supposed to be Atlantic coast and labeled as such. Actually I passed that goal with onlz Montreal in my own playthrough.

Here we go. Latest SVN.

OK, here is your save. You have two chances: change civics this turn or next turn. Either way, you get a 9 turn Golden Age.

Problem is Golden Age increases 1 turn during anarchy, but the UHV goal check time is funny so the one extra turn is added before the GA actually starts.
Yeah, but the GA turns only are supposed to not count down during anarchy. I have no idea where an extra turn could come from no matter when the GA starts.

I'm playing as Maya.
The Aztecs, due to instability, lose a city which becomes independant.
This triggers plague as if we had encountered old world units, which I think makes no sense.

Unrelated note : I've had several game crashes with 1.12 ( a few turns later in this game, for example), sometimes without having had any Python error popup during the game. I'd say 1 out of 4 games, which is a bit much, but I have no idea how to detect what went wrong.

I agree.

Sharing the error message would be a good start.

No, that's a mistake. Patriarchates aren't holy cities in any sence. Orthodox Christians won't go to Constantinopolis for pilgrimage or other religious purposes, they will go to Jerusalem, like Catholics will go to Vatican city. An other place that can be considered as second holy city is Sena.

Moreover, this is better gameplay-wise. Arabia (and later Turkey) will have the income of Orthodox christianity instead of the income of Catholicism, which means less money for Arabia and Turkey.

I'll give you that. My knowledge of Orthodox Christianity is limited, but it was my understanding that the four patriarchates, at least in ancient times, were significant to Orthodox Christians.

I just don't think it's a good idea to limit the idea of a holy city to the "birthplace of a religion" If that were the case, when Catholicism is founded first as it is now, we wouldn't bother with the AP mechanic to move the holy city, it would just stay in Jerusalem. And, as I said before, we really don't want to give Arabia any more power with shrine income than it already has (it already has the Catholic shrine in jerusalem and can build the Islamic one, giving them 2 shrine and one holy city, plus Zoroastrianism in Iran = 2 Holy cities and 3 Shrines.)

With the way the game has it set up now, the Orthodox Christian split is supposed to show the difference in political/religious control between the Catholic Pope in the west and the Orthodox Byzantines/Greeks in the East., Otherwise all three Christian denominations would have their holy cities in Jerusalem.

but anyway, back to bug reporting/suggestions.

I think i've mentioned it before, but would it be possible to have Aztec/Maya/Inca collapse to Natives/Barbs rather than independents? this way it keeps it fair for them by keeping the tech presence low, as the independents will be more advanced from originating in the Old World, unless we need to make a third independent civ that's unique to the Americas.

Edit: also, I saw this message pop up on the latest SVN (with Canada) when starting an American auto play in 1700 AD)

Sharing the error message would be a good start.

No error message except the usual nonspecific crash-to-windows message ("Program X has ceased functionning, etc.")
I'll copy it word for word the next time it happens if you want.

No okay, that's fine. Python exception implies a traceback to me.

No. Byzantium conducted war against Sasanids to retake Jerusalem. Controlling Constantinopolis wasn't enough.

That's why orthodoxy was founded in Jerusalem and Catholicism in Rome. The orthodox shrine and money is in Jerusalem and catholic shrine and money is in Rome.

I have proposed something like that in the old religion thread. Seeing Orthodoxy being founded at apostolic palace is completely strange. Orthodoxy in game represents what remained after the schism and apostolic palace is connected to catholicism far more than orthodoxy.

But, yes if it is to continue the discussion maybe it should be transfered elsewhere.

My long term intention is to get rid of gold income from shrines anyway, so don't base your plans around that too much.

Problem is Golden Age increases 1 turn during anarchy, but the UHV goal check time is funny so the one extra turn is added before the GA actually starts.
My experience is:

1) Switch civics on second turn: GA starts with 9 turns on the third turn
2) Wait until third turn: GA starts with 8 turns, remains at 8 turns when switching civics

Okay, figured it out. Turns out this bug affected all buildings that apply golden ages (the 2/3 UHV GA is applied over the Triumphal Arc). Apparently buildings always give one additional GA turn that is immediately used up because the effect is applied at the end of the turn. That doesn't happen during anarchy with the new rules though, so I adjusted the rules that this additional turn is only applied when you're not in anarchy.

Not a bug per se relating to DoC, but I have the following problem.

I'm playing DoC, and taking screenshots, and despite playing on 1920 x 1080,
my screenshots come out smaller than when I was playing on older dimensions.

Reports from a recent game as France:

- I can build French embassy as France.

-the French settle Montreal as Montreal, when it should have the accent over the e.

-Rebirth mechanic is still disabled/not working, unless it's intentional (as in if I have cities in a foreign core I can't release them and revive the civ).

Good job there!

Not sure if it's a bug but Canadian UP never worked for me. I keep my cities happy and healthy -- but not a single emigrant sets a foot to Canada, much less brings :gp:

It's been at least one turn since I've successfully built seven Stables for the Horse Whispering quest, but I am not prompted with any reward.

EDIT: I check the Statistics screen and it states there for certain that I have seven Stables so it should fulfill the requirements.
A couple turns later when I finish Education and hit Renaissance, I fail, even though I've met the conditions for several turns already.

EDIT2: I lost one Stable apparently from a prior event, but the Statistics screen did not update the result to reflect the lower number.
Could this be rectified?

Hey Leoreth,

I was playing as Colombia just a few hours ago, looking at the UHVs and I saw I already failed one achievement a few turns into the game.

Spoiler :
85y95e1.jpg

- Year in the screenshot is 1828 AD and the 1950 goal has failed already.

Some info on the game I was playing:

- Colombia, 600 AD Scenario
- Switched from Argentina
- Was fighting against the Dutch at the time
- Epic Speed

I don't know the SVN off the top of my head, but I can get the SVN and save game file if you need. SVN is 788 (first Canada update)

Hope this problem doesn't happen to anyone else and thanks for reading! :goodjob:
