How do you feel about this? Is this an infringment on freedom of religion?
I feel the burqa can be restrictive on women but at the same time I don't think women who want to wear it in public should be banned from doing so. How is this any different from wearing a ski mask in public? I can see the reasoning if it was in a job setting but why in public?
I am the last person to support religion but I am also one of the first to support human rights and freedom of peaceful expression. Wearing a burqa under no compulsion hurts nobody but those who choose to make it an issue and that's their fault.
Introduction from Article said:France's law banning the burqa and other Islamic face coverings in public places will go into effect on April 11, the prime minister's office said.
"The French Republic lives in a bare-headed fashion," French Prime Minister Francois Fillon said this week in an official government newspaper explaining the law.
The law imposes a fine of 150 euros ($190). The person breaking the law can be asked to carry out public service duty as part of the punishment or as an alternative to the fine.
