Sorry for posting old news. I just didn't read this news paper which has been left on a surface near me for a week.

The Bush administration has been accused of ignoring it's own arms embargo and overseeing the sale of $7m-worth (£3.7m) of weapons to the Haitian government to equip its police force.
Human rights groups say the police carry out routine executions of dissidents and weapons are often illegally funnelled to armed militia.

A state department spokesman said restrictions on arms remained. He said the US would not sell arms to Haiti but would consider lifting the embargo on a case-by-case basis to allow third parties to make the sales...

Is this righteous?

Now I may not be a journalistic wonk, but an "un-named" department spokesman? Umm if he's a spokesman, then by his job description he should have a name that can be printed on the paper...strange.

Combined from the fact that the Independant with no author of the article, this sounds a little fishy.

The america's policy often favours to work with whoever is benefitial to the political climate the administrator is visualizing, "the end justified the mean" as some ppl said. So its not surprising that the leader will try to alter the fate of other countries to suit their means and profits for themselves and the country they represent as a whole.

All these while manipulating the ppl into believing that they are "right" they are the Hero, while they are nothing but scum and a parasite worm forging the body to suit its survival.

very sad but its sadder that the people are buying the lies and deceptions.

So much sarcasm on this forum. But don't you think it's a good thing that the Bush Administration is going against its own embargo? It would be arrogant of him to say that "this is our embargo and everyone must take part." It's a true sign of maturity to be able to look at the situation, understand it, and make adjustments to previous decisions. We are not an arrogant people, we make changes when it's necessary. President Bush once said "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." If we don't want others to blindly follow a decision made a long time ago, we shouldn't either.
