C2C Balance Thread

I'm playing 25th release of mod and it seems to me that all buildings that increase upkeep (like village hall etc) are terribly bad, especially if you want to use corporations. Corporations have some crazy upkeep costs if you don't stack courthouse/local courthouse, Shinto temple etc. just because of big city sizes.

Isn't Druidism (or whatever it's called) kinda useless? I mean, ok, 5%-10% food in some cities, but what is it for when +4 food actually gives you +1..+2 surplus food because of surplus caps?
And, as i understand, final wonder that gives up to +20% food requires 16 cities? Not only you're unlikely to have all 4 resources for a full bonus (after all it's early-game religion), you're even less likely to have 16 cities, and that bonus is probably useless anyway because of surlpus caps or happiness caps.
I think it would have been better if Druidism at least helped against disease.

Good thing this behavior was changed since then.
Not really. I already installed last version. Village hall still increases upkeep by 15% etc.

V27 is the latest version, Not V25.

Strange. Mostly I get complaints that Druidism is massively over powered. ;) I have to check but I think there is a bug and you can't build the wonder/building at all. The 3rd does help against disease a lot.

I like your idea about disease reduction and Druidism has fallen behind Shamanism as I have added more animals, so I may add fruit altars to Druidism. I will also be getting rid of the obsolete stuff. It just should not be there while Choose Religion is an option.

It's a religion that becomes available in the earlygame, but it's not like it goes away. Try hanging on to your Druidic Traditions into the midgame and see what happens.

(Also, lol at happiness caps. Maybe on Deity, but considering I'm routinely sitting on 15+ :) on Monarch it's hard to believe. Unhappiness is what happens if you mismanage a war.)

Well I have been playing some test games on the Prehistoric Area and I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have two questions:

1) Does anyone bother with building the Brute Unit? I don't see really the purpose behind it. I never built any and it obsoletes way early to Clubman that I don't understand really it's point.

2) The Wanderer. Again same thing do people usually use the Wanderer? I don't use it too often either. I usually wait until Trackers at least to begin scouting or sometimes the Clubman.

Just the questions for now. I plan on adding more as I play and perhaps look to help. This mod is really great and I really enjoy it.

Edit: Adding the values. The Brute is if I recall 1:strength: and1:move: and also has a +25% vs melee units which is pretty much redudent.

Meanwhile the Wanderer has 1:strength: and 2:move: and a + 100% vs Wild Animals which makes it basically 2:strength: against them. Which raises the question why bother building any of them I suppose the Wanderer can be semi-usable for exploration I guess just need to watch for those animals that can beat it. But I see no use almost whatsoever for the Brute since I usually get the Clubman quickly.

From the SVN thread:

This seems like a major balance issue, on slower speeds it basically leads to perma-golden age.

Not really, because that leaves 95% for you NOT getting it. And besides that its only for those that can get the Heroic Promotion to begin with, not all units.

And before anyone else asks if the AI will know this, there is a special python just for the AI there.

With the occasional starting city that has excess health, yes, but usually no.

Please, tell me how you get a starting city with excess health. I have yet to see one. A screenshot would be nice too.

Thats for sure, because you get both  and :yuck: now with starting cities.

On slower gamespeeds where golden ages last 100+ turns, it's extremely likely that you will get a new golden age during your current one if your heroic unit keeps fighting, and with plentiful animals and barbarians around, not to mention minor civs, there's no reason to stop fighting with it. You could effectively farm cities for golden ages.

Screenshot before I believe you. And difficulty level played.
