The Royal Marriage ...
I, Ferric Auris III Queen of England, who is actually a man, but one with a weakness for women's fashion am betrothed.
:hmm: wonder who will wear the wedding dress me or the 'young, extremely beautiful and wild' French bride, daughter of Roy de France, the King of France. :groucho:

Kingdoms Alligned
This includes doubling our tech research, trading knowledge cheaply, sharing plans and maps, sharing intelegence of the other teams ... and dividing the new world which will hamper the expansion of the others ... Any extra luxury or strategic resource should be automatically gifted to the other party ... we are engaged after all LOL ... We should swap World Maps too at some stage ...

Regarding our rivals ... I think that we should cease all future technology trade ... and discuss if an opportunity does arise ... I would agree to a veto clause which states that we can trade with any rival ONLY if we both agree.

French Pirates will be named with a W.

>
>
French 1527 ... <snip>
The ideas of Luther (Protestatism) seems a better Religion than our current 'Pope'ism... but my doubt is if the duration of the anarchy period which will certainly follow this change is worth the change.

Our pirate design ships are in the making and should came out within 3 turns. After that I plan to research Scientific Method, which opens up doors to 'Medicine' and 'Military Tradition'...

<snip>

Cheers, Le Roy

>
Me 1527 ... <snip>

Next technology I will go for Mercantilism and try for Smith's Trading Company wonder.

Regarding which religion, since we are both Catholic, we can wait to evaluate which religion is better at a later date ... the period of anarchy is a big issue and Spain and Portugal have the advantage both having the Religious trait.

<snip>

Cheers, Ferric Auris III of Britain

>
French 1528 ... Dear Sir, I agree to wait on the choice of religion.

Spain has moved one Army North of Teotihuacan... don't take it as a good sign. But we'll see.

I don't often read the spoiler as it feels like reading your diary! Anyway, I took a look and I plan to settle 2 tiles South of Stellenbosch. You see... I don't have horses so I can't build Knights! So I was looking for a horse resource.

I am building colonists, Musketeers, Frigates and Temples.

Cheers,
Roy de France

AND

Dear Sir,

The portrait is finished!

You'll be able to see all the splendour of my lovely daughter. She is in underware, but you'll be her husband so I trust you to keep it to your eyes only.

I know that after seeing it you'll be anxious to have her with you, but we'll have to wait for the proper marriage, even if it is a secret one!

Cheers,
Roy de France, father of a beautifull sexy girl

Spoiler Warning of a Hirsute Nature :

>
Me 1528 ... Dear Roy de France

What an unexpected vision of hairy beauty your daughter is ... I shall carry her picture close to my heart ... and I am having additional barbers trained to join my household staff.

Regarding settling, there are 2 options
1. I shall settle in original spot (SE of Cows, NE of Wheat) and you settle (S of Horses)
2. I can settle on the Wheat and then road horses and trade.
What are your thoughts?
We must prevent the Dutch getting access, I can build a city in either location in 3 turns.

>
French 1529 ... Dear Son-in-law,

I have a colonizer ready to settle South of the horses tile in 3\4 turns. Is that suitable to your grand city scheme?
Next turn... I can start pirating! I'm also anxious to see who also has it. Scientific Method will be next.
I have explored a bit of South America and am sending maps with more details. I shall desembark a explorer in Africa next turn.

Greetings my son,
Roy de France, a big macho man!

>
Me 1529 ... Dear Sir

How is my little poppet? Well Groomed I trust LOL

Great News for this year is that I have gathered enough Tobacco to create 2 Treasures ... my people will soon be all a puffing.

I will settle as planned in 2 turns giving you space to settle south of horses ... I will also move my spare Pike around so Dutch can see to block his movement ... as if claiming next site for myself. When you do settle, we can make a big public thing about how crowded things are becoming ... it will ease any suspicions others may have.
Re-reading Classical Hero's comments about ONLY Lurkers and qummik being able to look into his spoiler, I suspect that Spain is very friendly with Portugal. Something we should be wary of !!!

It is now safe for you to discontinue Wine trade ... it will save the 3 gold I am giving you. Remember to restart in the same turn as a gift ... I and my people are enjoying your excellent grape juice.

Africa looks good, and perhaps forgotten by many ... you should be able to get a good secure foothold and get Ivory ;)

Until next year I lift a goblet to your good health, Ferric Auris III of England

French 1528 ...

>

>

>
French 1530 ... Dear Sir (slightly angry tone),

I will NOT give you wine if it is for you to somehow turn in into JUICE!!! We, French, have a sense of humour, but French wine is not to be toyed with, dear Sir! I do not mock your Seamen abilities, do I? My daughter cried for almost a fortnight after overhearing your intention about our wine...

Anyway, down to business. I trust you as my future son-in-law so I'm sending you top quality wine, as agreed.

I plan to settle in the agreed spot (S of horse tile) within 2 turns.

Africa does seem empty ... more than expected. Only detected one Portuguese city so far. Next turn I'll build a city there.

Cheers, Your father-in-law

>
Me 1530 ... Dear Roy de France (Dad to be)

Firstly I must blame my ill wording concerning your delicious ambrosia to a frustration on my part in having to wait for foreign diplomacy <sigh> before I can get to the business of nuptials shenanigans. I meant no disrespect so could you resume WINE trade NEXT turn !!!

I have begun prebuild for Adam Smith Wonder and will get Mercantilism in 12 turns with flatout research, how long will Scientific Method take?

I will found new settlement next turn near cattle (see Settlemenet Plan in spoiler for map) ... 'Gold Hill' in 2 and 'Iron Hill' in 3 turns.

Militarily things have changed with the training of 2 pikes, I am now AVERAGE to Spain, STRONG to Dutch and remain WEAK to you and Portugal.

Interestingly, Spain and Dutch have NO Piracy ... should you or I trade with Spain for Fortification before Portugal does? ... please advise ASAP.

Ferric Auris III of England

>
French 1530 ... Dear son,

Even though was upset for your plans for our Bordeaux liquid delight, I did try to send you wine last year (together with world map) but maybe something went wrong.

I should have Scientific Method in around 12 turns and am planning to build the Scientific Wonder it allows. I now have a decent number of musketeers and am sending a good number of them to America to control the area near Spain.

As for Piracy, I think you should try to trade it with the Dutch. I don't think it's wise to give it to the Iberian countries as they are two potential winners, specially if they are allied. Portugal already has 15% of the needed VP's and once it starts to get treasures it can have a fast evolution.

Roy de France.

>
Me 1530 ... Sorry I was suggesting to trade Piracy with the Spanish NOT the Potugese ... the latter already has it ... the more nations that have Piracy will make it more difficult to differentiate which nation owns them, leaving it open for YOU to begin terrorising the seas without being blamed ... and giving me more targets for my Privateers.

AND

follows from last message ... and at the moment the Dutch have nothing that we want.

>
French 1530 ... I'm gonna start pirating once those pirates are built... and I don't care much if they know who it is! I'm gonna start pumping musketeers to the New World and - sooner or later - I intend to use them.

It's a pity we can't attack Azores or Madeira, because they are perfect intermediate stop positions for the Portuguese.

I don't want to attack anyone just now, but we should start to plan who to attack. Portugal seems weaker but Spain is more dangerous in the long term. What do you think?

If u want to trade Piracy with Spain, that is fine with me.

Cheers, Luthor

It's a pity we can't attack Azores or Madeira, because they are perfect intermediate stop positions for the Portuguese.

I don't want to attack anyone just now, but we should start to plan who to attack. Portugal seems weaker but Spain is more dangerous in the long term. What do you think?

>
>
French 1528 ...

>
French 1530 ... I'm gonna start pirating once those pirates are built... and I don't care much if they know who it is! I'm gonna start pumping musketeers to the New World and - sooner or later - I intend to use them.

It's a pity we can't attack Azores or Madeira, because they are perfect intermediate stop positions for the Portuguese.

I don't want to attack anyone just now, but we should start to plan who to attack. Portugal seems weaker but Spain is more dangerous in the long term. What do you think?

<snip>

Cheers, Luthor

>
Me 1531 ... Hail Good Sir

I tilt a glass of fine French wine to you.

I have founded Richmond near the Dutch and can see no sign of a settler, so I think you will easily gain the horses you desire.

Next turn I will settle the Golden Hills and the turn after, the Iron Hills ... I noticed that you cleared the savages ... good work.

My first treasure is in transit back home ... have you produced any yet?

Africa looks empty and I notice a saltpeter supply south near the cattle, surprised that Portugal has not investigated that site yet.

I will have spare furs soon and will gift it to you ... if you have Tobacco spare, why not trade with Dutch, it would be good if you were on good terms, an ear in his court would be very beneficial as he may be feeling hemmed in by me and may suggest an alliance vs. English. I don't fear him as between us we could easily wipe him.

>
French 1532 ... Dear Sir, I'm sending a drawing of the South of North America. The Spanish Army has came North of his city (2nd time)... I guess he ain't too happy about me blocking him in the North. Let us see if he makes agressive action!

I've produced no treasure yet, but it should occur quite soon.

Cheers, Luthor

>
Me 1532 ... Dear Sir

Did Not receive Map, send next turn ... I have extra Furs, so have sent them to you. Founded Baltimore on a nice Gold supply, I will found another city next turn on some Iron Hills.
Spain jumped back upto STRONG in Military Strength compared to me.
I will get Mercantilism in 9 turns.

I can trade Furs with Spain, what do you think? ... if he agrees he may confide in me.
Have you tried trading Tobacco with Dutch yet? As it would be good to get his confidence.

Warmest Regards to you and your lovely daughter

King of England.

AND
Spoiler Picture :

ooops .... just saw picture.

It does look ominous ... your musketeers are a good unit ... maybe get some cannon and Frigate too ... that way you could bombard. I guess you need cash to rush some unit builds ... try trading Tobacco with Dutch.

>
Me 1533 ... Dear Sir

Noticed a couple of your industrious workers moving through England, are they on route for a sea pickup? If so try to time it so they have to move one tile and then board the ship ... that way no-one will see them.

Also noticed a Colonist on the Jamestown border ... and a worker roading a tile in my territory.

Since you didn't object, I have sent Spain an offer to trade Furs, I await their reply ... if they are not interested perhaps Portugal would be (if you have no objections) ... The Dutch still have no Tobacco, are they not interested in your trade?

The Spanish have now slipped from AVERAGE to WEAK when I completed a Knight.

Regards to your daughter

I got myself another Treasure to my captial. I will have Mercantilism in 3 Turn and thus I will have Adam;s in Four turns. I also got myself another Treasure and thus soon I will be able to grow a massive army that no nation will be albe to defeat. I am starting to build up my navy and soon that will be able to rule the world. :queen:

But I must be wary since they know that I am powerful that I m a threat to them and need to be stopped, which is why I need a bigger army.

Spain 1534 ... There really is no need for this trade since the only way furs can be useful is if they are inside the radius of the city. I do have a few resources that I can trade with you, but you will be suffering from the same problem and thus it is an unnecessary trade. All the useful things we both have, which is a good sign for our two great nations.

>
French 1528 ...

>
French 1530 ... I'm gonna start pirating once those pirates are built... and I don't care much if they know who it is! I'm gonna start pumping musketeers to the New World and - sooner or later - I intend to use them.

It's a pity we can't attack Azores or Madeira, because they are perfect intermediate stop positions for the Portuguese.

I don't want to attack anyone just now, but we should start to plan who to attack. Portugal seems weaker but Spain is more dangerous in the long term. What do you think?

<snip>

>

>

>

>

King/Queen of England

>
French 1534 ... Dear Sir,

I've picked up the workers even though it would be unlikely anyone would see them. I have workers in North America and decided to build roads for your commerce to florish.
The Dutch already have tobbacco so they aren't interested in the trade. Offer the trade to Portugal and see if they are interested. I somehow doubt it, but try.

I have (theoretically) a stronger army than all nations except Portugal. Where to use it?

I've built 2 Privateers. Their names are:
- Winona
- Wilheim

Cheers, Le Roy

>
Me 1534 ... Bless the Lord, your message came just in time as I was just going to issue a general warning of Pirates sighted off the Irish coast to ALL the European powers ... mind you that was before I saw a name starting with 'W'. LOL

Spain has rejected the offer for furs ... but it makes sense because the idiots who designed the game only gave furs (and other resources) a bonus if in a city radius.
