A few remarks. I've been using the copy tool and rule organizer a lot for my mod, and without it I would have been unable to manage a mod with thousands of units.
I have a few suggestion to make it better:
- When copyng a unit, the air defense is not copied (always 0). I often forget to put it back
.
- Sometimes, with many units, when copying a bunch of them (even only 2), I get an error. I now have to copy them one by one.
- It would be great if we could "set a marker". Imagine I have 2000 units.
I want to copy units 1200 to 1210. I need to locate all the entries in the combo, then select it, and copy. The combo is then reseted , and the first entry is selected. It would be better if the entry selected previously was selected again (so I can just reopen the combo and select the next entry).
Same for the rule organizer, a way to "set a tag" with a quicj jump to tag would be marvelous.
- It would also be extra fantastic if we could copy a bunch of units at once, or/and ahve multi selection in the rule organizer.
To explain better the idea, here is how I work on my mod, whose goal is to have only flavour units for every civ.
I have generic units.
Like
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
Bronze spear
Iron Spear
...
When I'll add the Scandinavian civilization, I want to end with
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
Bronze spear
Iron Spear
Sw_Warrior
Sw_Bronze Sword
Sw_Iron Sword
Sw_Medieval Sword
Sw_Bronze spear
Sw_Iron Spear
For the moment, I have to copy one by one each generic unit, then use the rule organizer to move them in the list (it's sorted alphabetically by civ, then line of unit, then chronolical order). It's very time consumming.
Let's ay I've finisht he spear line, and now want to do the sword line.
So I have
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
Bronze spear
Iron Spear
Sw_Bronze spear
Sw_Iron Spear
I would be very happy of I could select the first lines:
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
then hit the copy button and get
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
Bronze spear
Iron Spear
Sw_Bronze spear
Sw_Iron Spear
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
Then in the organizer select the last
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
but the target just after the first Iron spear, hit the move button
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
Bronze spear
Iron Spear
Warrior
Bronze Sword
Iron Sword
Medieval Sword
Sw_Bronze spear
Sw_Iron Spear
and then just rename.
Another useful tool would be a technologoly organizer. Having them alphabetically sorted for instance would be nice. In fact, anyway to help sorting the techs would be nice.
