I could never understand how the population physically fits in there. Why isn't the whole country one massive slum? I still see mostly green on Google Earth.
Also, there's the fact that Russia has about twenty times the GDP per capital of Bangladesh, despite the Russian population being one of the most spread out in the world.

It's basically one massive flood plain, so they're not hemmed in along the coast or along waterways like most Eurasian countries. Sort of like an anti-Japan, if that makes sense.
Even in Bangladesh there are still 783 square meters per capita.
In Israel there are 2599 m2 per capita and in India 2405 m2 per capita.
