We hereby declare war upon you for your unrepentant declaration of support for the ignoble cause of Italian unification.

In response to your declaration of war, I honor my defensive pact and alliance with Naples, and hereby declare war upon the Papal States.

In support of our allies, Brandenburg declares war on Scandinavia, the Empire of Spain, The Russian Empire, The Netherlands, Denmark, the Franco-Burgundy Confederation, and any other nation that has declared war on the United Kingdom or any other member of the Krakow Pact

Occitania has not declared war. They're waiting for Brandenburg.

Here's my Cue. I'm joining as Occitania

In support of our new allies of Britain and the Krakow pact, we declare war against the perfidious Spaniards and their newfound cheese-eating allies residing in a state to our north.

Due to their declaration of war against our French and Spanish allies, The Republic of The Netherlands hereby declares war against Occitania

The Kingdom of Austria must announce that it will be defending the Pope through any means necessary. With that, we declare war on Naples. We hope that this war over Italian Nationalism remains localized, and disconnected from the rest of the world's quarrel, though we will not back down from any fight that members of the Krakow Pact or Spain's alliance present us.

Italians, it is time to fight for freedom for the greater good of Italy! We cannot let the power hungry Pope keep us oppressed any longer. We have to work together and form a powerful Italy! Austria has jumped in on the side of the Pope. Austria, the oppressive nation that has control of our very own Venice! Italians, we must rise all over Italy and free Venice from the Austrians and Papal overlords, we must fight for Italian liberation! We can not do it without your support, free Venice, overthrow the spiteful Pope and gain Italian freedom!

Austria is most pleased to hear this. We hope our wars remain very separate.

In response to your declaration of war against our Dutch and Franco-Burgundian allies, and in accordance with the terms of the Triple Alliance, we hereby declare war upon you. May God have mercy on your souls, for we will not.

OOC: Oh god I go to sleep and then suddenly there are 3 pages of purely declarations of war on eachother. This is amazing and I look forward to the insane destruction we are about to visit on the earth. This will make WW1 look like a lover's tiff. :p

From: Empire of Scandinavia
To: Who It May Concern

For its blatant disregard of the global peace, for its presumption to violate the good name and will of the nations of Europe, its attempted blackmail and extortion of the Empire of Spain, its sinking of the Reusachtig, and all other offenses and transgressions, the Empire of Scandinavia, in cooperation with and by obligation of our defensive alliances and treaties with Franco-Burgundy and the Netherlands, issues a declaration of war against the Empire of Brazil.

To My Dear Cousin Harald, King of Scandinavia,

I write to you in these troubled times with a deep conundrum. While the past Order Party government of Axel Gyllenstjerna may have been willing to pass a declaration of war against the United Kingdom, Brazil, the Krakow Pact, and all of their allies, the current Social Democrats of Grim Magnusson will not pass a declaration of war. Indeed, a disturbing degree of public sentiment lies in support of the Brazilians and British- or more specifically, against the continued imperial policies of nations such as Spain and Scandinavia.

Of far greater concern is the shift of allegiance of the Americans away from the Spanish. By inviting war with our southern neighbours, we risk losing everything we have strove to build, while being faced with very little potential gain.

I am extraordinarily reluctant to go against the elected will of the Riksdag, especially with the stakes raised as they are with the Americans. In the course of my writing this letter, I have received a telegram from the Americans explicitly requesting Vinlandic neutrality, with veiled threats of violence.

The Riksdag debates neutrality at best, with some radicals proposing cutting ties with Scandinavia altogether, or joining the enemy. None of the Social Democrats, and only fringes of the Conservatives are allied with the remnants of Gyllenstjerna's Orderists in supporting joining the war on Scandinavia's side. Should such a think happen, I would either refuse to sign the bill or abdicate in protest. Either way, this crisis is a grave threat to the position of and public confidence in the royalty of Vinland. As such, it is in these difficult times that I write seeking your counsel, in the hopes that my next correspondence to you will not be written with great regret.

Yours,

Ingvar, King of Vinland

TO: Scandinavia
FROM: Brazil

Your blatant disregard for peace by escalating this conflict to a global scale is far worse than the reparations we asked Spain to pay to our ally. You will regret these actions.

To: Scandinavia
From: Vinland

We wish that you had chosen to remain aloof of this entirely unnecessary conflict. We in Vinland do not appreciate being placed into this compromising situation. Further correspondence on this issue is actively invited.

To: Vinland
From: United States of America

We simply would like to state that we have no desire for war with our Northern neighbor. Do not declare alongside Scandinavia, and we will be peaceful.

To: America
From: Vinland

Similarly, we have no desire for conflict with our southern neighbours, with whom we have enjoyed a long and prosperous period of peace. It is our hope to correspond with Scandinavia and defuse this situation, although realistically we doubt that anything can be done to undo the declarations that have already been made.

Even if we end up fighting on opposite sides of this conflict, we hope that we can mutually agree to maintain a peace along our borders, to prevent the depredations of war from ravaging our peaceful lands.

From: Empire of Scandinavia
To: United States
CC: Vinland

Despite our ties of cultural and royal fraternity to Vinland, it is a sovereign nation as recognized by the Empire of Scandinavia, and should it choose to remain neutral we will respect that choice. We have no intention of dethroning or minimizing Vinland's sovereignty in what we believe is fundamentally a European conflict. While we are disappointed that the United States would enter what we believe is a European war, we are willing to accept that it ought to cause us to seek an agreement regarding Vinland's neutrality, should it choose to maintain it. Therefore, if Vinland decides to remain neutral, we ask that the United States not seek any aggression against Vinland in order to avenge itself against Scandinavia. We may have our disagreements, but we are civilized people after all, not a band of Kongolese cannibals.
