Capto Iugulum

Nein! Brazil is green! Brazil has always been green, and will always be green! The SUSA was green, Brazil has been green, and Brazil will always be green! No negotiation!

I find the messed up rivers to be very problematic... fixing all of them seems like a very tall task. Also, I feel that Vinland's western borders now entirely matching the OTL border is the same problem that spry raised earlier, with a lot of things mirroring our own timeline excessively closely.

Purple Brazil is rather fashionable.

I want to add to my section Complaints/Comments here:

They are very minor, but I think elections and generic 'reconstruction' projects consume too much of the front page news.

Although I committed the sin as well, reconstruction projects are extremely boring ways of invigorating an economy. For the coming decades, perhaps loan systems, tearing apart natural resources, or renaming 'reconstruction' projects based on their specific natures. Separating distinct projects, in my case three projects, Railroad expansion, Electrification and Outpost renovation, for example, would be three projects.

Then elections. I recommend having a special 'elections' portion of the update, where all election seasons are condensed into specific headlines of 'Liberal Govs form in countries A, B, C', and the larger trends are uncovered. Or keep them separate for each country, either way, it'd be more organized if there was a 'Democracy News' category.

Those are my thoughts so far.

I personally like having a fairly detailed comment on my elections every year they happen, so that I can keep a good handle on what's going on.

I agree with J K Stockholme in that, as according to his revision, I ought to have continuous territory on the east side of the Rhine. (In fact, I think by the old map I ought to have more than he's given me. I'll revise the map again later. And Germany has too much territory in Eastern Pomerania.)

Also, for what it's worth, I think the new map is really, really, ugly, and disgustingly flat-looking, and that the old one is infinitely preferable and much more attractive.

Might I suggest this as an alternative? If you don't like the water colour, changing it would be trivial.

I don't really like that one either, to be honest, myself. I like the familiar and coherent shape of the preexisting map, and I also like having continents that actually end before the top of the map (i.e. I think that not being able to see the top of Siberia and North America is pretty horrible).

Well frankly, unless anyone has any truly convincing arguments why a 1000 AD NES would be superior (in their mind, not just my morning thoughts and doom and gloom) make them, otherwise at the moment I have to say I'm thoroughly swayed to carrying out this the rest of the way as promised to 2100, especially since we do have to prepare this world for alien invasion. Can't leave them stuck in 1920 with no hope of survival from the alien menace.

I would prefer a 1000 AD because I cannot create a Nation that I want. Most Nations have been already created and I cant find a Nation that I really like to play. For example Pontus has been created by other player, and now I cannot change it's name to Hellenic Republic, because you say that the player who played Pontus had already changed it's name.

I'm with Spry on this one, the new map is pretty unattractive and the colours really clash with eachother. It looks too dry and dull.

Iggy--I like your base map a good bit better than the current base map.

I really dislike the old map; this one is far superior.

Adding my comment; I agree. The new map has a lot more detail, plenty of work has already gone into it, and I just like it better than the original. There's no law from on high that says NES maps must be the standard Winkel-Trippel model, and I rather like this projection too.

lurker's comment: I think the reason so many people are saying the new map is ugly is because it is colored very poorly. There's not a lot of contrast so it's boring to look at. A more vibrant or dynamic color scheme would probably help a lot.

I'll see what we can do about a new color scheme then.

That means no 1000 AD NES?

The map feels more appropriate for the era. It will also be easier to make nice (more realistic/historic looking) border changes in accordance with the vicky territories, but that's incidental.

Well a quick poll, just ayes or nays needed in the next 24 hours. Just pick one of two options, and we'll go with the majority:

1. Stick with the old map.

2. New map with modification/recoloring.
