Cats and Kittens

I learned something else about what happened with Maddy. She was actually found in another wing of the floor, on the other side of the building.

That is a LONG way for a nearly 16-year-old cat to wander, given how slow she is getting from room to room in the apartment.

No wonder she was hungry and thirsty when those people found her. :(

Younger cats can range up to two kilometers iirc.

Maddy likes to take her time traveling 2 metres, with frequent stops right in front of where I need to step. It makes for slow-moving traffic in the hallway here when I need to answer the phone if she gets in front of me.

But seriously, I'm flabbergasted at how far she wandered. This building is huge.

She's still a cat.

Dex is a couple of years younger he's still going outside, hunts, bowls around the house and playful.

Yes, I know she's a cat, and cats like to wander. But Maddy is an old cat, and much slower and less mobile than she used to be. She has trouble jumping very high now. Floor to table top used to be easy. She can't do it anymore.

Tiger cubs at the London Zoo try to figure out this swimming business. The adults are Ashim and Gaysha; the cubs are Zac and Crispin.

As long as they can still walk.....

She can still walk. But you realize why this worries me, right? Most people severely underestimate her age because she's so small in comparison to other adult cats. They tend to guess her age at around 2 and are flabbergasted to learn that she's a lot older. Geriatric cats have health issues that younger cats don't.

The people who found her took good care of her, giving her food and water and reported finding her right away. That's a great relief, but I'm still going to have a firm talk with the person who was partly responsible for her getting out in the first place.

Father in laws cat Kora looking a bit cute. Bit cold today.

Its him anyway. Found him in less than 5 minutes. Went door knocking forwarded to SiL.

Looks like there's gonna be a reunion tomorrow. Seems he's a stray again.

The Facebook photo. Well one of them.

Apparently he has been hanging around last year and a half the kids feed him.

Wanted to grab him then but have to double check microchip and bit of door knocking and school lady seems he is a stray.

Middle of winter but very mild night.

Missing for 18 months?

Yup he was hanging around the school. After door knocking I think someone was feeding him and moved leaving 3 cats behind.

Kids and staff were feeding him and he was sleeping in the locker room.

Local shopkeeper also knew about him as kids were talking to him.

Apparently the kids are ecstatic his humans found him. The teacher graded him A+ for attendance, A+ for friendliness and an F for harassing the birds.

Reunion first night.
