CFC Handwriting Thread (from Random Rants ΠΑ)

Mostly legible writing here, wish everything I tried to read was at least that good. Back when I was looking at application forms ~10 years ago sometimes it was impossible. What was on the paper was not actually English. 80% of words had lines drawn in a way that didn't form letters of the English language. I'd have had an easier time reading well-written Spanish or even Portuguese, at least those use letters I can mostly identify.

I'm jealous Lemon.

Cool thread Arakhor!

I'm being incompetent with my phone. Might have the patience later to brutalize your eyes with illegibility. Just realized how much I have typed in the last decade and written so little.

Thanks, Farm Boy. :)

Lemon's writing is very pretty but I found it difficult to read. This is more on me than on the writing, I think, as I find all cursive a bit difficult to parse even though I know all the symbols.

I think mine is fairly legible ;)

Thanks ! :D My handwriting only improved since middle school, in the basic school it was absolutely horrible ! Maybe I can find that really old notes to show You the true horror

I wrote in Swedish, since I need to think and write slowly to get English grammar somewhat acceptable. :) But what I wrote was something like:

"What a fun idea for a thread! I think my handwriting can vary greatly, depending on how stressed I'm when I write and such.

Sometimes it looks like this too which is kind of fun. It probably depends on how I'm holding the pen aswell."

Norse languages are cool ! :)

I think a lot of younger people have trouble with cursive these days. My handwriting has become a bit messy over the years as I tend to write rather quickly to take notes. A friend of mine says that my handwriting looks like "backwards Arabic."

I will admit to there being occasions where I look back on something I wrote a month ago and think "WTH is that?".

You're in the medical profession, so at least you can claim that you're living down to the stereotype. :)

I'm in secretarial, so perhaps not representative, but I thought her writing was basically typewriter legible.

That is so true ! Lemon You should write prescriptions only in illegible scribbles , otherwise pharmacy clerks might get suspicious

You have a really nice capital R.
I concur. I wish my R's were as good as that.

It's not as much of a stereotype as you might think. :p

You're the first person to ever say that. Thank you.

I'm not allowed to write prescriptions yet. I have to complete my license as a Nurse Practitioner to do that, I just haven't had the time to write the tests.

Once, my doctor gave me a prescription that was just a squiggle. The pharmacist was able to fill it anyways.

@MaryKB your new avatar is confusing when next to @Lemon Merchant even though yours is color and hers is b&w.

lemon's handwriting is incredibly gorgeous. I made very audible sounds of appreciation while looking at it. mine is absoutely horrendous, it's like a caricature of bad handwritings. it's boastful, careless and offensive to the eye. it doesn't matter what I write, it ends up looking vulgar and/or done by an insane person. my handwriting is only good for writing stuff that is Bukowski level of deranged. I might post it later.

I really like the look of Lemon's writing as well -- and I thought it was quite readable, too:

Hi CFC!

NAT
(But now I really have to ask: Was that poem/lyric your own composition? And is 'NAT' your initials, or your name in caps?)

Here's mine. My cursive used to be much better, but I hand-write relatively little these days, and mostly just notes (instructions to the typesetters, shopping-lists -- that kind of thing), which I print for legibility:
