Exactly, the only people refer to USC as southern cal are East Coast pundits who don't know what the hell they're talking about and tend to underrate the Pac-10 massively.

Why is calling a team by the geographic location stated IN ITS UNIVERSITY TITLE such a crime?

I'm not big on really respecting whatever the fans of the team want me too call them. I will NEVER EVER NEVER EVER EVER EVER call OSU THE Ohio State University. So Southern Cal will be the name I will use occasionally instead of USC. Don't like it? Deal.
