Chick-Fil-A Backs Down Then Backs Up

Lets talk about CFAs record of discrmination against their employees. In checking it, we find that they have very little there to prove this is in any way true, far, far, FAR less on average than similiarly run corps in that business.

Quite simply, the facts dont support your premise. If CFA were as bad as you allege, their history would be rife with such lawsuits. It isnt.

Do it. Who's got numbers?

Do it. Who's got numbers?

They were already brought up by Form no less in the original thread. All he could find really was one example of a guy that complained of racial discrimination and not much else.

As a Corp it has one of the lowest rates of such complaints while also having one of the lowest turnover rates of its hourly employees in that industry. Apparently people that work at CFA really like working there in comparison to all their competitors.

What utter nonsense. I never claimed that was the only case which it clearly isn't. That was your sheer speculation based on no actual facts.

Prove it. Articles posted in this forum show a quite different story regarding the homosexuals who work there now who fear for their jobs, and who will only speak anonymously. They are sickened by the rampant displays of homophobia in their owrkplace since this story broke. But ff course, that was before Dan Cathy promised to turn over a new leaf in conversations with at least two different parties.

An anecdote isn't numbers.

I'll bet this business is ponying up somehow - Jesse Jackson calls it shaking the tree. The OP mentions steps the business has taken or will take to satisfy the politicians so I'm sure that'll cost money - but the form of punishment from the OP is obvious, Moreno couldn't jail the guy but he could block expansion of his business and thats what he threatened to do... Thats punishing someone for their speech.

I doubt CFA paid any money to Moreno. Other Chicago Alderman were willing to accept a CFA in their area, and I bet the franchise could have made money in lots of different locations.

This seems to be the best possible outcome, but if we had to do it all over again, I wish Moreno hadn't tried to block CFA in the first place, since that would have hurt the residents of his ward (and the neighborhood) more than allowing a bigoted chicken place.

Kudos to CFA for making the switch though.

Thats what you brought up in the other thread. /shrug.

As Lucy says, anecdote isnt numbers, and those arent lawsuits. If it were half as bad as you alleged, wouldnt there be lawsuits?

I dont have to 'prove' anything for the simple reason if there were a lot of harassment lawsuits against this company you would have crowed over them long and hard. But there simply isnt that much there to crow over, however.

An anecdote isn't numbers.

And what I mentioned isnt anecdotal, but already posted in the earlier thread about all this. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=470547&highlight=chic-fil-a

I remember that thread well since I won that thread.

Spectacularly.

Read it again, my win is in there.

Hmmm. Werent you waggling your finger at others for claiming such wins not long ago?

:p

You remembered well! It was the method I used to win that thread. The genius was not needing anyone to lose. We all won by my wise waggling of fingers at others.

Yet the business is being to allowed to expand.

In states where it still is completely legal for homophobes like Dan Cathy to fire employees for that very reason?

That is really what this issue is all about. CFA now wants to expand into states where homosexuals actually do have rights, which continue to be denied to them by the Republicans in Congress.

So in other words nobody and you have no proof of anything.
