Well, now people can decide which civics to choose, and we choose it.
I asked for this in discussions and polls, and now we do it piecemeal, by the wishes of some citizens and the constituency. Take it easy, it will work.

The other polls make the situation worse, if anything.

Someone with an axe to grind can take the results of all these polls out of context with each other to force the people into his preferred civics configuration, even if nobody else agrees with that specific combination.

I don't see that danger - since all those polls end before the same turnset the DP will be instructed to switch civics to all those that are to be changed, if none is to be changed then the DP won't have to revolt - but I think that is not something we'll agree on ;)

Ori hits the nail. With the timer of this poll, seen in conjunction with other polls, it all adds up. We need the timer for this, so we are not seeing continuous delays. Changing civics is complex, especially if you have forces sabotaging any attempt to make a change there. We need the entire spectrum of polls needed to effect the revolution.

I object!

"Change civics" without any kind of indication of what to change them to is not an actionable instruction. As a citizen I request it be marked invalid.

After reviewing this request I declare this poll invalid.

Reason: This poll is written in a way that deprives citizens of
important choices in a matter that can have great impact on the further game. By just giving a choice between change or no change this poll could be used to force changes in a subsequent poll that are not desirable to the majority of citizens.
Also by itself this poll does not allow for a choice for any game action ("Change Civics" is not actionable, "Change Civics to XXX" would be), so that citizens cannot decide on a choice and know in what game action this choice will result. Overall this poll seems to be unfairly worded and thus should be invalidated.

Now, the Poll Invalidation Act does give specific instructions on how to invalidate a Poll, but what constitutes an invalid poll has never been specified (neither have we rules on what a valid poll would be). A broader discussion about this might be in order.

The Poll Invalidation Act stipulates that any citizen who does not agree with the invalidation of this poll may appeal this decision to the full Judiciary within 24 hours of this post. Such an appeal has to be posted in the Judiciary thread for this term.

Fine, the civics change will be enacted next turnchat anyways, as it stands, so I am happy. (Following the pyramids).

I think this is plain and simple, the civics combination that wins the open poll, seem to be enacted as soon as the pyramids are conquered. It is as democratic as it can get. We got the content (civics) and we got the timer (time of civic change), perfectly within the bounds of "actionable" changes to the game.

We just had to separate the time from the civics, so we all agreed on the circumstances for the eventual change.

I think this poll could have been better, like the famous longbowman poll.
But it does the job, like the other one, and places the best time for a civic change somewhere around the conquest of the pyramids, and cross referencing that with the specific civil poll, most players want representation. Researching Monotheism in a single turn, and already having gained Feudalism from the Romans, the time around the conquest of the Pyramids would be the exact time.
