I think the quality of NFP leader art (and the rest of the art in general: districts, buildings, resources...) took a dive from GS. Upward trajectory isn't guaranteed.

NFP always felt like a rushjob to just be Done With It with a dash of fanservice thrown in. It also came less than a year after GS.

This update comes almost two years after NFP and doesn't come with the additional hassle of having to design and playtest new Civs. It makes sense that the quality of the models is better.

Whether the quality of the abilities themselves will be better than GS, well we'll know that soon enough.

I don't know, I think it's a mixed bag. LSS and Ambiorix are two of my favourite designs, Kublai probably my most disliked. We could still have a similar situation here.

Edit: though this time it's free, so even in that scenario it's not exactly comparable.

Lincoln is missing a mole and isn't quite as weathered as I would like to see, but this seems fine.

I suppose this is one of the downsides to the artists having actual photographs to work with.

It is probably super unlikely, but it would be really nice if, as part of the general changes and bug fixes, they did a second pass look at everybody’s models and animations and smoothed out some of the rougher elements on certain leaders. Especially since it looks like Ana and Lincoln are near or at the top in terms of model quality just on this first look (which leaves some leaders lacking comparatively), it would give a last-hurrah polish to a presumably-last-hurrah DLC for the fans before Civ 6 is done-done

Holy wow, just looking at the comments on Reddit and YouTube there are a *lot* of people disappointed that this might not be coming to consoles. I didn't know that many people even played on console lol

Same on Twitter. I would have thought they'd be used to the long lag time between PC launches and console launches by now.

I play it on Switch only when I've got a long plane ride or am away from my PC for a while. It's better with a touch screen, but the thing crashes every 20-40 turns it feels like.

NFP was simultaneous. The hope was that meant that they would be treated on a par from then on - the delays to the XPs were just them playing catch-up. Apparently, it was the NFP that was the anomaly, not the XPs

Really disappointed that it seems like there will be no videos or let's plays. It is just very fun to deduce details from them and build hype.

The dlc and models look good though, especially Nzinga.

Given the fact that Aspyr recently got kicked off of the KoTR remake, I wouldn't be surprised if the Leader Pack never makes it to console, especially since Aspyr didn't do a great job with NFP towards the end. Hopefully, Firaxis will do the console port of Civ7 themselves, but who knows.

The game is actually pretty easy to play on console. A little more clicking than you would like but perfectly playable.

Remember, Aspyr is the one who handles the console ports. Console players will get this pack when said company feels like it. And based on their other releases, it'll be a rush job that doesn't work and Firaxis will get all the blame...

It's the internet. If something can be complained about, it will be complained about. Doesn't matter whether or not there's many who actually do play it on console.

Remember, Aspyr is the one who handles the console ports. Console players will get this pack when said company feels like it. And based on their other releases, it'll be a rush job that doesn't work and Firaxis will get all the blame...

Aspyr also handles the IOS port and the new frontier pass came out same day on PC and console. Console players are right to be annoyed at the radio silence from Firaxis. Either come out and say you’re not bringing it to console or say you hope to in future. Ignoring everyone won’t make it go away.

It's actually pretty great, I prefer it on console, on the Switch at least. There is a performance issue though, and Aspyr is absolutely pants at fixing bugs so it has several major ones that haven't been touched in years. The actual design is great though.

If Firaxis didn't want to deal with the blowback from Aspyr's lameness, they should have partnered with someone else or lean on Aspyr to fix the game.

Aspyr also handles the Mac/Linux ports and this appears to be coming out for those at the same time? If this is mostly art assets, I don't know that this would be that hard to port.

I wonder if there are some negotations as to price etc for the console ports. I might be wrong, but I think it actually works by Aspyr paying 2k for the right to port and then collecting the sales (rather than the other way around), and so the "free for anthology owners" might not be having the same value for them.
