[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

Zenobia could be based off of Dido, and Dihya on Gorgo.

I can imagine Puduhepa to be based off of Dido as well, if not maybe Gitarja or Seondeok.

say, Mycenean Greeks morphing into Khmer and then Industrial Germans in the same game.

I think the idea is to think of it a tad more abstractly—it’s supposed to illustrate the *idea* of evolution of culture, i suppose

You can see what an educated lot we are here. I am sure the average gamer has never heard of Songhai, and you if stopped the average person in the street and asked them to point to Scythia on a map you would get a lot of strange answers.

Considering Scythia would span from Ukraine to the Caspian Sea I agree. :mischief:

Yes, here we are, so to speak, indefatigably and unintelligibly Debating the Unfathomable as far as the rest of the Gaming World is concerned.

We all must remember the fundamental basis of any Civ, Leader or Game Mechanic's inclusion:

Is It Fun To Play.

Yes. Yes. And hunderd times yes for this

I can't speak for anyone else, but, metaphorically speaking, I'm happy to debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin all day. :mischief:

It's a bit more like How Many ivs Can Be Stuffed Onto The Head of a Pin Whether They Fit Or Not.

But, yeah, Historical Trivia Pursuit Я Us could be the motto of some of these Threads . . .

The discussion about angels and pins is irrelevant. The angels and pin are the same, they are all dharma.

This begs for my favorite Shelley Berman quote, relating is version of a Philosopher:

"This is a glass of water. But is it really a glass of water?
And if it is a glass of water,
Why is it a glass of water?"
- And eventually he dies of thirst.

And one of my favorite quotes from Kahlil Gibran:

"Said a philosopher to a street sweeper, 'I pity you. Yours is a hard and dirty task.'
And the street sweeper said, 'Thank you, sir. But tell me what is your task?'
And the philosopher answered saying, 'I study man's mind, his deeds and his desires.'
Then the street sweeper went on with his sweeping and said with a smile, 'I pity you too.'"

Last Utterly Off-Topic Post (Honest!):
The street sweeper only has to deal with dirt and refuse. The philosopher has to deal with miasmic and bottomless swamps . . .

Has anything relevant happened regarding the November update, over the last two weeks, like a "leak" or something? I haven't been paying attention and don't have time atm to scroll through all the usual threads.

As far as I can tell, nothing much. Still lots and lots of speculation on new Civs or Leaders, which amount to "Kublai Khan and Some/Many Others Unknown". Haven't seen any real speculation or information on new Game Modes, which so far have been (for me) the most interesting things about New Frontier.

Theories, but nothing concrete. Popular choices include Berbers/Morocco based on the depot name (MooreTires), Portugal based on its absence and also based on the depot name, and Assyria/Babylon. I'm in the last camp myself. This is all just speculation, though, not based on any leaks or hints.

I'm pretty sure it was deliberately spelled like Moor, instead of Moore, which makes it sound more convincing it would be one of the former.

I remain unconvinced. None of the other depot names has been significant to the pack contents so I'm not expecting this one to be any different.

Not to mention the ambiguity: Moor could refer to Morocco, the Berbers, Al-Andulus, the Moor of Venice or a mis-spelled Fantasy Module based on Terry Prachett's Ankh-Moorpock.

If we get Vietnam civ, do you think Ho Chi Minh could be a good leader?

I think he is the best known Vietnamese person (if you ask an average joe here in Finland at least) and doesnt have negative reputation.

It would be easy to give him unique bonuses and agendas and would make a cool leader screen.
